You can run a prerecorded video as a YouTube Live stream with PRISM Live Studio on a low-cost Windows PC—but first check whether the machine meets PRISM’s published minimum, then keep the scene and output modest and rehearse privately. The key caveat: PRISM’s current Media Source guide does not establish whether the installed desktop version has a repeat control, so verify that before relying on a loop.
Check whether your PC meets PRISM’s baseline
PRISM Live Studio’s current Windows desktop guide lists these minimum specifications. They are the vendor’s documented baseline, not an independent guarantee that a particular setup will stream reliably.

PRISM’s general-streaming recommendation is substantially stronger: Core i5-8500 or higher, at least 16 GB RAM, and RTX 2070 or equivalent. These specifications come from PRISM’s current desktop guide, accessed in 2026. Meeting only the minimum does not ensure stability: source count, output settings and other running applications can still cause stuttering or interruptions.

A mostly static prerecorded video should involve less work than a game capture with animated overlays, but that is a practical expectation, not a PRISM performance benchmark. If your PC is below the listed minimum, do not count on a dependable long-running broadcast; try a short private rehearsal first. The PRISM Live Studio team warned in its low-spec guide published October 27, 2022, that broadcasting on a low-spec PC may cause abnormal app termination, stuttering, or repeated cuts to the broadcast screen.

Prepare a simple scene and a video source
Keep the scene as light as possible: one video source, the audio you need, and at most a simple static label. Close resource-heavy applications and avoid browser widgets, animated overlays, filters and extra scenes while diagnosing performance.
- Choose a local video. Prefer a file at or below your planned broadcast resolution so PRISM does not needlessly downscale it. Larger media can use more CPU.
- Add it in PRISM. In Sources, select Add Source > Media Source, then choose the local file. PRISM says hardware decoding can reduce CPU work when a stronger GPU is available, but it increases GPU load; use it only if that trade-off suits your machine.
- Check playback in the installed version. PRISM’s source guide discusses media playback and Studio Mode behavior, but does not establish a current repeat/loop control. Inspect the Media Source properties for a repeat option and confirm that playback starts and continues as intended before going live.
If there is no repeat option, a practical fallback is to play the file in a local video player configured to repeat and capture that player window in PRISM. This is an inferred workaround, not a tested recipe: it adds a running application and capture source, which can increase system load. Check that video and audio stay synchronized and that playback resumes as expected if you switch scenes or restart the source.

Choose settings that a low-cost PC and connection can sustain
- Set conservative video output. Open PRISM’s Video settings and choose a resolution and frame rate the PC can handle. For a static loop, 30 FPS is a reasonable conservative starting point, not a tested guarantee. PRISM advises reducing resolution or FPS if the system struggles.
- Choose an encoder. Go to Settings > Output and select Advanced mode to expose streaming encoder controls. If you have a compatible dedicated NVIDIA or AMD GPU, PRISM recommends using its hardware encoder. If encoding with x264 or x265 on the CPU, PRISM advises the “veryfast” preset because slower presets use more CPU.
- Keep bitrate appropriate. Do not set a high bitrate simply because YouTube can accept it. Match bitrate to the chosen output and the stable upload capacity available to you. The verified guidance here does not establish a guaranteed bitrate for your specific PC, resolution or Indian ISP connection.
- Reduce demand when symptoms point to the PC. If you see frame drops or transmission delays while the machine is busy, lower resolution, FPS or bitrate; remove unnecessary sources and close resource-intensive apps. PRISM notes that higher output settings and more demanding sources can burden both the PC and network.
Link YouTube, rehearse, then start the stream
Create and authenticate your YouTube channel before trying to select it in PRISM; PRISM’s FAQ says channel creation and authentication must be complete for the channel to appear. In PRISM, link the account, select the intended channel and check the destination before broadcasting.

- Select the linked YouTube channel in PRISM.
- Enter the stream title, category and visibility, and verify that the intended channel and audience setting are selected.
- Use PRISM’s YouTube rehearsal function, where available, to check picture, audio, playback continuity and system load before a public session.
- When ready, choose Go Live and confirm the stream information. Choose Finish in PRISM when you want to stop the stream.
Make sure you have the rights to every video and audio element you broadcast. A successful rehearsal does not establish that content is authorized or that a channel meets YouTube’s eligibility or monetization requirements. Avoid assuming that looping a video changes its copyright status or makes reused material eligible for monetization.

Fix PRISM’s YouTube connection error in India
Use this branch only if PRISM reports “Failed to connect to the server” with error 57998 while connecting to YouTube over RTMP. PRISM’s guide says some India and Indonesia users may encounter a conflict involving IPv6 transition policies and ISP infrastructure; it is not a setting every Indian connection needs.
- Open Settings > Advanced > Network in PRISM.
- Set IP Family to IPv4 Only.
- Enable network optimizations.
- Apply the changes and restart PRISM, then try connecting again.
Diagnose a stream that buffers, drops or ends
- PRISM will not connect and shows error 57998: If the message is “Failed to connect to the server” over RTMP, try the India-specific IPv4 and network-optimization steps above.
- The stream starts but video frames drop: Reduce resolution, FPS or bitrate, simplify the scene, and close resource-heavy applications. This points toward PC workload if the machine is struggling.
- The connection is unstable or the stream terminates: Check connection stability and available upload capacity. A wired connection may help when the local Wi-Fi link itself is unstable, but it cannot fix insufficient ISP upload capacity.
- YouTube rejects the destination: Recheck channel authorization, selected channel and stream-key or channel association. PRISM lists invalid or deleted channel permissions among causes of a stream ending.
- The video stops instead of repeating: Check the Media Source properties in your installed PRISM version. If there is no repeat control, use the external-player fallback and verify playback recovery and system load again.
