How to Run a Continuous Podcast Stream on YouTube From a Windows PC (Hindi Guide)

Learn how to send a live or prerecorded podcast to YouTube from a Windows PC, configure the encoder, plan sessions and troubleshoot common issues.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

You can run a podcast as a YouTube live stream from a Windows PC by sending either a live microphone feed or prerecorded episodes through an encoder such as OBS. A single PC session should not be treated as guaranteed to run forever: plan monitoring and, for near-24/7 availability, controlled session restarts. If “continuous” means playing uploaded episodes without keeping a computer on, a cloud service such as StreamNeo is another option.

Choose what “continuous” means for your podcast

Format Audio source What to plan for
Live-hosted show Microphone or headset connected to the encoder A host must be present to speak; check the selected input and monitor audio.
Prerecorded episodes Audio or video files played through the encoder Prepare the playback source and confirm that the episode advances or loops as intended. YouTube does not automatically turn a channel playlist into an encoder input.
Several scheduled broadcasts Live microphone or prerecorded content for each session Create separate sessions and schedule operational checks and restarts rather than assuming one local encoder session will last indefinitely.

A microphone is optional when you are only playing recorded episodes. YouTube’s encoder guidance lists a microphone as typical equipment for a live host, not as a requirement for prerecorded playback.

Check YouTube eligibility before setting a start time

YouTube’s current live-stream guidance says the channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. The general eligibility guidance also specifies a minimum age of 16. First-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours, so check access in YouTube Studio well before announcing the broadcast. Requirements and enforcement can change; confirm your account’s current status there. See YouTube’s live-stream eligibility guidance.

Set up the Windows PC encoder stream

  1. Prepare the source. Decide whether the encoder will capture a live microphone or play a prerecorded episode or playlist. Connect any microphone or headset you intend to use, then select the correct device in the encoder. Do not assume a YouTube channel playlist is available as a direct encoder source.
  2. Create the broadcast in YouTube Studio. Open YouTube Studio, choose Go Live, and create or schedule an encoder stream. In the Live Control Room, copy the stream URL and stream key.
  3. Enter the destination in the encoder. Paste YouTube’s stream URL into the encoder’s server field and the stream key into its key field. Treat the key like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to that stream. YouTube documents the encoder setup at Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
  4. Set video and audio. Choose a resolution and frame rate that the PC and connection can sustain. A podcast visual is often largely static, so there is no need to choose a higher frame rate unless the content calls for it. Set the encoder options described below, using YouTube’s current bitrate table for the selected resolution, frame rate and codec.
  5. Test the full feed and preview it. Check that the intended image or playback source and audio are reaching the encoder. Start sending the stream, then inspect the incoming preview and stream health in Live Control Room. Verify audio before making the broadcast public or sharing it.
  6. Monitor the session. Keep an eye on stream health and audio/video quality while the PC is sending. For near-continuous availability, plan checks and controlled session restarts; YouTube’s documented archive rule is not a guarantee of indefinite operation from one Windows PC session.

Use encoder settings that match your feed and connection

YouTube’s current encoder recommendations include RTMP or RTMPS transport, H.264, H.265 or AV1 video options, frame rates up to 60 fps, constant bitrate (CBR), a 2-second keyframe interval (do not exceed 4 seconds), and AAC or MP3 audio. YouTube recommends RTMPS. Its recommended stereo audio bitrate is 128 Kbps. These are platform recommendations, not a guarantee that a particular PC or network can sustain a profile. See YouTube’s encoder settings and bitrate table.

Even a streaming equipment accessory will not be dull looking when video production.

Choose the video bitrate from that table for the exact codec, resolution and frame rate you are using. For H.264, YouTube lists 5 Mbps as recommended at 1080p30 and 3 Mbps at 720p30. Do not copy a bitrate for a different resolution or codec and assume it is suitable.

Your total stream bitrate must fit the PC’s available upload capacity. YouTube recommends keeping 20% spare upload bandwidth and testing the complete intended feed. A shared connection can leave less capacity for the PC than a speed test suggests, so test under realistic conditions. See YouTube’s streaming tips.

Plan archives and session breaks

YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. This is an archive rule, not evidence that a long broadcast will remain technically stable or that a 24/7 session will archive in full. If the archive matters, structure the show as planned sessions below that threshold and verify current Live Control Room behavior. A near-continuous channel also needs someone to check stream health and coordinate restarts; a local encoder depends on the PC and its connection remaining available.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Clear rights for everything in the broadcast

You need the necessary rights for every recording, music bed, image and other material in the live feed. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content matches; a match can cause a placeholder to replace the feed, interrupt the stream or terminate it. Even if you have a license, the rights holder may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Review YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams and its livestream terms and conditions, which put responsibility for the necessary worldwide exploitation rights on the creator.

Troubleshoot common stream problems

  • Go Live is unavailable: Check channel verification, live-stream restrictions in the previous 90 days, and whether first-time activation has completed. Activation may take up to 24 hours; check Studio access before the planned start.
  • YouTube receives no signal: Confirm that the encoder has the correct stream URL and key, that it is actively sending, and that the key belongs to the stream currently open in Live Control Room.
  • Video or audio stutters: Check stream health and whether the chosen total bitrate fits available upload bandwidth. Leave the recommended 20% headroom, account for other network use, and retest the complete feed.
  • The picture or sound is wrong: Confirm the intended source is selected in the encoder, the correct microphone or headset is chosen if hosting live, and the Live Control Room preview contains the expected feed before starting the broadcast.
  • The stream is interrupted after a content match: Review the material used and confirm that you have the required rights. If licensed material is matched, ask the rights holder whether your channel must be allowlisted.
  • The broadcast runs longer than planned: Do not rely on one local encoder session to run indefinitely. Use planned sessions, monitoring and controlled restarts, and check the current Studio behavior for archiving.
