YouTube warns that a stream lasting more than 12 hours may not be captured at all, so a 24-hour broadcast is not a reliable way to create a complete replay. Use the phone workflow below for a supervised mobile broadcast; for continuous playback of uploaded video, a cloud service such as StreamNeo is a better fit.
What “24/7” means in this setup
Starting a live broadcast and keeping a channel continuously available are different jobs. Streamlabs Mobile can send a camera or screen broadcast from Android to YouTube, but the phone still depends on its battery, temperature, network, Android’s handling of background activity, and an operator who can respond to problems. The available guidance does not establish a universally safe, unattended 24-hour phone setup.

There is also a separate archive limit. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived; if a stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all. That is an archive-capture warning, not a promise that YouTube will stop every broadcast at exactly 12 hours. Do not rely on one uninterrupted day-long stream for a complete replay.

- A verified YouTube channel.
- No live-streaming restrictions during the preceding 90 days.
- Live streaming enabled. First-time activation may take up to 24 hours.
- An Android device running Android 8.0 or later.
For channels with more than 50 but fewer than 1,000 subscribers, YouTube says it may limit the audience for mobile live streams and set the archive to private by default. This is YouTube’s stated mobile-live policy; do not apply it automatically to every third-party encoder route.

Start a supervised broadcast with Streamlabs Mobile
- Install and open Streamlabs Mobile on Android. Sign in, then grant the camera and microphone permissions needed for the kind of broadcast you intend to make.
- Connect YouTube. Follow the app’s account connection and authorization prompts. Confirm that the intended YouTube channel is selected before going live.
- Choose the broadcast source. Set up the phone camera or screen capture, then configure the available video settings. Streamlabs lists output resolution, frame rate, and bitrate among its mobile settings; choose settings your phone and network can sustain rather than assuming higher values are always better.
- Set up the YouTube event. Use Streamlabs’ Go Live flow to select YouTube and create a broadcast or choose an existing event when the app offers that option. Check the title, audience setting, and visibility before starting.
- Run a short test first. Where appropriate, use an unlisted or private test, then check that the video and audio appear correctly on YouTube and that the stream is healthy. YouTube recommends test streams and ongoing quality checks for encoder workflows; the same checks are useful before relying on a mobile setup.
- Go live and keep the session supervised. Watch for connection, audio, framing, and device warnings. Do not treat a “Be Right Back” screen as proof that the broadcast has automatically reconnected.
Streamlabs documents disconnect protection for Ultra users that displays a “Be Right Back” screen after a connection drop. That feature is a holding screen, not an automatic-reconnect guarantee.

Reduce avoidable phone interruptions
- Close background apps and suppress avoidable notifications or calls before starting.
- Use a reliable network and place the phone where its connection is stable. If the broadcast is fixed-camera, a tripod mount can help position the phone, but it does not solve power, network, or archive limits.
- Streamlabs advises starting with a fully charged phone and cautions that charging during a stream may strain the battery. Battery wear, heat, and Android background behavior vary by device; there is no universal safe recipe here for leaving a phone streaming unattended all day.
- Keep an operator available to respond if the app, device, network, or YouTube event fails. A brief gap while restarting or creating a new segment breaks continuous availability.
Plan around YouTube’s 12-hour archive warning
If you need a replay, divide the broadcast into segments shorter than 12 hours and verify each archive after it ends. A segment transition may create a gap in the live viewing experience, and the guidance does not establish a way to guarantee a seamless handoff. If continuous public availability matters more than a single replay, plan supervision and recovery around each transition rather than assuming one 24-hour event will work as both.
YouTube’s archive guidance says: “If your stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.” Read YouTube’s live-stream archive guidance before planning a long broadcast.
When to consider a computer or hardware encoder
YouTube describes encoder streaming as suitable for more advanced productions and hardware. A computer or hardware encoder can be a more appropriate fixed setup than a phone when the production needs dedicated equipment, local recording, and active stream-health monitoring. It still needs someone to monitor the stream and respond to problems; the available guidance does not guarantee unattended restarts or uninterrupted 24/7 operation.

YouTube’s live-streaming tips recommend monitoring stream health and checking local recording and audio/video quality.
Troubleshooting common Streamlabs Mobile problems
The app says live, but the YouTube event does not look live
Confirm that the correct channel and event are selected, then check the event in YouTube Studio and its stream health. Streamlabs’ September 3, 2026 troubleshooting entry covered reports where a broadcast appeared live only in the device UI; it is marked resolved, so treat it as dated context rather than evidence of a current widespread defect.
A duplicate broadcast appears
Check whether a second event or broadcast was created instead of joining the intended existing event. Streamlabs’ same resolved troubleshooting entry described duplicate-broadcast reports and suggested choosing an existing broadcast for the cases it covered.

Go Live fails in portrait orientation
If a YouTube RTMP error occurs in portrait mode, try horizontal orientation or select the existing broadcast if that is the event you meant to join. These were suggestions in Streamlabs’ resolved September 2026 report, not a guarantee that orientation is the cause of every go-live failure.
The stream drops or video quality becomes unstable
Check the network, close other apps, and reduce the selected resolution, frame rate, or bitrate if the connection cannot sustain them. Recheck the picture and sound after changing settings. Disconnect protection, if available on your plan, may show a holding screen after a drop, but does not itself establish that the stream has recovered.
The replay is missing or incomplete
Check the stream’s duration first. YouTube may not capture a stream that exceeds 12 hours. For future archives, end and verify segments before they reach that threshold rather than counting on a day-long broadcast to produce a complete replay.

Or let it run in the cloud
If the goal is continuous playback of uploaded video rather than a live phone camera or screen, StreamNeo keeps a YouTube channel live by looping uploaded recordings or playlists from the cloud. Upload the video or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; the stream uses the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, with no re-encode or quality tiers. StreamNeo can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card.
The monthly option is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo is for YouTube playback of uploaded video, not a camera broadcast. Learn more at StreamNeo, or start the free first day.
