How to run a YouTube playlist through StreamVoodoo
1. Confirm that your channel can go live
YouTube says a channel must be verified and must not have had a live-stream restriction in the preceding 90 days to live stream. Its help documentation also sets a minimum age of 16 for live streaming. Check the current eligibility details in YouTube Help’s live-streaming restrictions before configuring the broadcast.

2. Prepare the playlist and playback source
Choose the software or system that will play the videos in order and keep the playlist running. Confirm its loop behavior, how it handles the end of a file or playlist, and whether it can resume after an interruption. Those responsibilities are separate from StreamVoodoo’s documented source-routing role.
Use only video and audio you own or have permission to stream, including music and third-party material. YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service apply to live content, and YouTube can restrict or remove streams. StreamVoodoo’s terms dated 2022 place responsibility for rights and consent on users; check the agreement currently presented by the service rather than assuming that older terms are unchanged. 3. Route playback through StreamVoodoo and your production tool
Pick the route that fits your setup; the described options are alternatives, not steps that every user must combine:
- Playback into a StreamVoodoo room: The FAQ describes sending media playback with audio into a room through an OBS virtual camera or an NDI output. Check that both the picture and sound reach the room before moving on.
- StreamVoodoo output into OBS or vMix: StreamVoodoo describes Magic Links as video-with-audio outputs that can be added as browser sources in OBS or vMix. Use the production tool to compose or route the feed if your workflow needs it.
These paths connect sources and production tools. They do not, by themselves, demonstrate that a playlist will loop or that an encoder will restart after a failure. Test the complete playback-to-encoder chain before relying on it unattended.

4. Create the YouTube stream and enter its credentials
- Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room. Create a stream or select a scheduled stream, then obtain the server URL and stream key shown for that stream.
- In the encoder that will send the finished program to YouTube, open its streaming settings and enter the YouTube server URL and stream key. YouTube’s instruction is: “To start streaming, enter your YouTube Live server URL and stream key into your encoder.” See YouTube Help: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
- Treat the stream key like a password. Do not show it in screen recordings, screenshots, or public messages. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- Start the encoder. For a scheduled stream, wait for the preview in the Live Control Room and then select Go live when it is ready.
5. Test the parts that make “24/7” meaningful
Run a supervised test long enough to observe playlist transitions and confirm that audio and video remain in sync. Then test what happens if the playback source, StreamVoodoo connection, encoder, or internet connection drops. Establish who or what restarts each component and confirms the broadcast is live again. The reviewed StreamVoodoo materials do not establish automatic playlist looping or failure recovery, so do not treat a successful short test as proof of unattended continuity.
YouTube limits and archive expectations
- Archive length: YouTube Help says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That does not guarantee a complete archive for an uninterrupted stream that lasts longer than 12 hours. If a complete recording matters, arrange a separate recording and verify the result.
- Concurrent streams: YouTube documents a maximum of 10 active streams per channel and 3 active streams per stream key; both limits apply. These are YouTube limits, not StreamVoodoo room limits.
- Restrictions: YouTube says a live-stream restriction can prevent streaming for 14 days. It prohibits using another channel to get around a restriction while it remains active.
- Policy and rights: Live content must comply with YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. Permission to play a video does not necessarily cover every embedded song, performance, image, or other third-party element.
These operational limits are from YouTube Help; the pages do not state a publication year in the cited material. Check the current pages before scheduling a long-running broadcast.

Troubleshooting a StreamVoodoo-to-YouTube playlist
- YouTube receives no signal: Check that the encoder is running and that its server URL and stream key match the stream selected in YouTube Studio. If the key was exposed or changed, reset it and update the encoder.
- The Live Control Room shows a preview, but viewers cannot watch: For a scheduled stream, confirm the preview is present and select Go live in the Live Control Room.
- The room or browser source is blank: Confirm that the selected StreamVoodoo route is active, the room is receiving the intended source, and the Magic Link browser source is configured in OBS or vMix if you chose that route. Test the source before starting the YouTube broadcast.
- Video plays but audio is missing: Check the playback device and audio routing into the virtual camera, NDI output, or browser source you chose. Verify the audible result in the production tool, not just on the playback computer.
- The playlist stops at the end: Confirm that the playback system—not merely the StreamVoodoo room or encoder—has repeat or loop enabled. The reviewed StreamVoodoo materials do not document a native playlist loop.
- The broadcast ends after a connection failure: Identify whether the playback source, production tool, encoder, or network failed, restore that component, and confirm the stream is live again in YouTube Studio. Automatic recovery is not established by the StreamVoodoo materials reviewed here.
- The archive is incomplete or missing: YouTube’s automatic archive guidance covers streams under 12 hours. For a longer broadcast, do not assume the full stream will be archived; use and check a separate recording if needed.
