You can keep a YouTube gaming-highlights broadcast running around the clock by sending a prepared video file through an encoder or a cloud streaming service. First confirm that your channel can livestream, clear the footage and audio for use, then configure the stream and check it before leaving it unattended. A local encoder such as OBS requires a computer and connection to stay available; a cloud service hosts the loop for you.
Before you start: check channel access and rights
Enable live streaming in advance
YouTube says a channel must be verified, have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, and meet the minimum age of 16 to livestream. First-time live-stream enablement can take up to 24 hours, so complete it well before your planned launch. See YouTube’s getting-started requirements and encoder setup guidance.

Review every layer in the highlights file
Owning the exported video file does not necessarily give you rights to everything inside it. Check gameplay, soundtrack, overlays, and any third-party clips. A game’s streaming permissions may not cover music audible in the recording. Keep records of licenses or permissions, and remove material you cannot substantiate before putting the file into a continuous loop.

YouTube supports encoder-based broadcasts of gameplay. Its encoder guide explains: “An encoder converts your video into a digital format to stream on YouTube.” A loop of prerecorded highlights should be presented as prerecorded; do not imply the gameplay is happening live or promise live interaction that is not actually available.

Choose how to keep the loop running
| Option | What it does | What you need to manage |
|---|---|---|
| StreamNeo — cloud service | Uploads a video and loops it to a YouTube channel from the cloud. The computer used to set it up can be turned off. | Upload the source, add your YouTube stream key, and start the broadcast. Confirm provider details in the current dashboard. |
| Local encoder such as OBS | YouTube lists OBS as open-source software available at no charge and supports encoder-based streams. | Keep the host computer, network, encoder process, and source file available; monitor and maintain the setup yourself. |
YouTube’s encoder directory also lists cloud tools for continuous prerecorded streams. If comparing providers, verify current pricing, upload limits, supported formats, recovery behavior, account security, and service status directly with each provider; those details can change.
Set up a local encoder loop
This route gives you direct control of the encoder, but the computer running it must remain on and connected for the broadcast to continue. YouTube’s documentation confirms encoder streaming but does not establish one bitrate, resolution, keyframe interval, or archive setting that is right for every configuration. Use the current YouTube guidance and the encoder’s settings for your chosen resolution and frame rate rather than applying a universal number.

- Prepare the source. Export and review the complete highlights file, including its audio and overlays. Keep a separate backup of the source; do not rely on the live broadcast as your only copy.
- Verify and enable the channel. In YouTube Studio, complete channel verification and enable live streaming. Check eligibility and restrictions ahead of launch because first-time enablement may take up to 24 hours.
- Create or select the YouTube broadcast. In YouTube Studio’s live control workflow, create or select the stream. Set the title, description, category, and visibility accurately, and identify it as a prerecorded highlights loop where that helps viewers understand the format.
- Copy the stream key privately. Copy the key from YouTube Studio into your encoder’s stream destination settings. Treat it like a password: do not publish it or share it. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- Configure the encoder and loop. Select the prepared video as the source and configure the encoder for the output your connection and channel can sustain. Set the source to repeat using the encoder’s available looping workflow. YouTube’s encoder documentation does not prescribe one bitrate or keyframe value for all resolutions and frame rates, so consult the current encoder and YouTube recommendations for the specific output you choose.
- Start with a preview. Start the encoder, wait for YouTube Studio to detect the incoming stream, and inspect the preview and stream-health indicators. Confirm the right file, audio, title, visibility, and category before making the broadcast public.
- Keep the setup available. Leave the computer awake, connected to a stable network, and running the encoder for the length of the broadcast. Monitor it periodically; a local setup depends on that computer, connection, and process staying operational.
Run it from the cloud instead
StreamNeo is a YouTube cloud service for looping uploaded videos. Upload the gaming highlights, add your YouTube stream key, and go live; the cloud keeps the loop running without a computer, OBS, or home connection staying on. Each slot includes one always-on stream, 10 GB of storage per slot pooled across active slots, playlists, and support from the StreamNeo team. Uploaded video streams as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; there are no quality tiers or re-encoding. StreamNeo says it automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream.

Monitor the broadcast and handle problems
The stream does not start
- YouTube does not detect an incoming feed: Check that the encoder or service is running and that the stream key and destination are correct. If the key may have been exposed or copied incorrectly, generate or copy the current key in YouTube Studio and update the sending service.
- Live streaming is not enabled: Check channel verification and eligibility in YouTube Studio. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours.
The loop stops or goes offline
- Local encoder: Check whether the computer slept, the network disconnected, the encoder closed, or the source ended without looping. Restore the missing part of the chain, restart the encoder, and verify that YouTube receives the feed again.
- Cloud service: Check the provider dashboard and service status, then confirm the stream key and selected source. Contact provider support if the service reports an error you cannot resolve. Do not assume any provider offers a particular uptime guarantee unless its current terms say so.
Viewers cannot hear or see the expected content
- Inspect the Studio preview before leaving the stream unattended. Check source selection, audio levels, and the opening and ending of the file; confirm the loop returns to the beginning as intended.
- If a copyright claim or match appears, review the identified segment and its rights. Remove or replace questionable footage or audio rather than assuming gameplay permission covers every soundtrack or clip.
Copyright, presentation, and monetization are separate checks
A continuous loop is not a guarantee of policy compliance or monetization. YouTube’s rules and review of a channel’s originality and reused content are separate from whether a stream stays available. A vendor policy explainer reports no blanket ban on continuously looping content that the creator owns or is licensed to use, but that interpretation is not an official YouTube ruling. Copyright, misleading presentation, spam or manipulation, and monetization eligibility remain distinct risk areas. Use accurate titles and descriptions, make clear that highlights are prerecorded, and check YouTube’s current policies before launch.

Do not promise that watch time from a loop will lead to Partner Program approval. The channel must independently meet current YouTube Partner Program requirements, and reused-content review can affect approval even when the footage is streamed continuously.
