Gemini access on a Mac is controlled in several different places: connected folders in Gemini Spark, Connected Apps, Spark’s remote browser, Chrome history, and Gemini Apps Activity. Disconnecting a source can stop future access, but it does not necessarily delete activity or copies already sent to another service. Use the control that matches the information you want to review or remove.
Review and disconnect local Mac folders in Gemini Spark
Gemini Spark’s Connected folders control lists folders you explicitly added. Google says Gemini can only view files or directories specifically added to that toolbar. Spark may also need a separate macOS permission before it can access files.

- Open the Gemini app on your Mac and choose Spark in the sidebar.
- Find Connected folders.
- Use the control beside the folder and choose Disconnect.
Disconnecting removes Spark’s access through that connection; it does not delete the original folder or files. Google says turning Gemini Spark off also removes its access to local files in connected folders. Spark may edit or organize connected files, including actions that permanently delete or share them, so avoid connecting sensitive folders or public cloud drives unless that access is intended. Google’s Mac instructions and file-safety guidance describe these controls and risks.

Connected Apps controls access to supported services, not local Mac folders. In a browser, go to gemini.google.com and open Connected Apps settings to review available connections and disconnect one.

In Gemini in Chrome
- Choose Ask Gemini.
- Open More, then Settings & help.
- Choose Personal Intelligence, then Connected Apps.
- Switch off the app you want to disconnect.
Google notes that this Chrome setting applies across Gemini Apps, including Gemini in Chrome. The apps shown and the exact controls can vary by account, device, location, language, and Gemini surface. Connected Apps settings also do not govern all public information Gemini may use from Google services. See Google’s Connected Apps help.
For a work or school account
App access depends on the organization’s Workspace edition and administrator settings. If an app is unavailable or cannot be disconnected, your Workspace administrator may control whether it is enabled. Google’s administrator guidance explains the managed-account distinction.

Separate Spark’s remote browser from Chrome history
Gemini Spark remote browser
Spark’s remote browser is not your Mac’s local Chrome browser. Google says Spark processes remote-browser session information, including authentication cookies and page content. To stop active work, choose Stop or Take Control. To remove remote-browser data, use the deletion control in Spark settings; this also signs you out of sites in that remote browser. This does not clear local Chrome history. Details are in Google’s Spark remote-browser help.

Gemini in Chrome
Gemini-related chats can be reviewed in Gemini Apps Activity. Sites Gemini visits can be reviewed or deleted in Chrome history. Those controls cover different records: deleting a chat is not the same as removing a visited-site entry. Follow Google’s Chrome activity guidance for the relevant history controls.

Delete Gemini activity and consider information already shared
To remove material Gemini may retain in its activity, review Gemini Apps Activity and Recent chats, and delete the relevant entries. If that material came from a connected app, disconnect that app as well. Google advises doing both when appropriate; either action alone may be insufficient to address both future access and retained chat activity. See Google’s activity-management instructions and its guidance on information Gemini may remember.
Revoking access and deleting retained data are separate actions. Disconnecting an app—or deleting data within a connected app—does not delete Gemini Apps Activity. Deleting Gemini Apps Activity does not erase information another app has already received. Check that service’s own controls if you need to remove a copy it holds. Google’s explanation of these limits distinguishes the controls.
