To stop Gemini from accessing a connected work app, open Gemini’s Settings & help → Connected Apps, switch off the app, and follow any on-screen steps. On work or school accounts, a Google Workspace administrator may control whether apps can be enabled or disabled. Disconnecting stops access through that connection; it does not erase past chats or information an app has already received.
Review connected apps in Gemini
- Sign in to the Gemini app with the account whose access you want to check.
- On the web, open Gemini and select Settings & help → Connected Apps. If the current interface places this under Personal Intelligence, open that section first.
- Review the apps listed for your account and the Gemini surface you are using. Select an app to review its connection.
- Switch off the app you want to disconnect and follow the displayed instructions. You can use the same settings area to reconnect it later.
Google’s Connected Apps help describes this control. The available apps and navigation can differ by account type, Workspace edition, device, country or location, language, and Gemini app, so the list in your own account is the best guide to what is connected.

What work or school account users should know
For a work or school account, access depends on whether the Workspace edition is eligible, whether Keep Activity is enabled, and whether the administrator allows the integration. Google says that apps can only be enabled or disabled by the account’s Google Workspace administrator. If an app is missing or you cannot change its setting, contact your Workspace administrator. There are exceptions. Gemini cannot access a Drive file if its owner disallows downloading, copying, and printing, and it does not access messages in a delegated Gmail inbox. Google documents these limits in its Workspace administrator guidance.

If an administrator disables an app after a chat used it
You can still view and continue that chat. Gemini retains access to the information needed to respond to the original prompt, but it cannot retrieve additional information from the app while access is disabled.
What disconnecting changes—and what it does not
Disconnecting prevents future access through that app connection. It does not delete Gemini Apps Activity or past chats, and it does not delete information an app has already received from Gemini. Google’s privacy guidance for connected apps recommends deleting the relevant Gemini chats as well as disconnecting the app if you want to remove information Gemini may have remembered from it. Deleting chats alone leaves the connection available; disconnecting alone leaves information in existing chats.

Changes or deletions made in a connected app may take days to affect the Gemini experience, according to Google’s connected-app privacy guidance.

Disconnecting work access is not the same as blocking public information
Turning off an account-connected app does not necessarily stop Gemini from using public information from Google services. Google lists Search, Flights, Hotels, Maps, and YouTube as services whose public information Gemini may use. That is distinct from access to private, account-connected content such as your work Gmail or Drive. See Google’s Connected Apps help.
