Set the response format to PDF
ScreenshotOne accepts GET query parameters or a POST JSON body, and recommends HTTPS. Add format=pdf to the request. The API’s default response_type=by_format returns the selected format directly; for PDF, handle the response body as PDF bytes and give the saved file a .pdf extension.

For example, a GET request can include ?format=pdf alongside the other capture options. If you send a POST request, put "format":"pdf" in its JSON body. The official options and request documentation are at ScreenshotOne’s options page and getting-started guide.

Fit the page onto one sheet
To create a one-page document resembling a full-page capture, set pdf_fit_one_page=true. This asks ScreenshotOne to attempt to fit the website onto one page; the option defaults to false. Fitting a long page onto one sheet can make its text and details smaller.

Include background graphics
Set pdf_print_background=true to include background graphics. It defaults to false. For a one-page-style PDF with backgrounds, ScreenshotOne recommends this combination: format=pdf&media_type=screen&pdf_print_background=true&pdf_fit_one_page=true.
Set paper, orientation, and margins
Use pdf_landscape to control orientation, pdf_paper_format to choose a paper size, and pdf_margin or the per-side margin overrides to adjust margins. The options page is inconsistent about the default paper size: its option description names Letter, while another part says A4. Set pdf_paper_format explicitly whenever paper size matters rather than relying on the default.

Read and save the response as a PDF
With the default response_type=by_format, the response body is binary data in the requested format. Do not treat it as PNG bytes or decode it as text. Save the body directly to a file ending in .pdf, or pass the bytes to a PDF-aware consumer. The API sets the response Content-Type according to the selected output format.

ScreenshotOne also documents response types such as empty and json. If you select a response type other than by_format, check its behavior before expecting a direct PDF file in the response body.

Troubleshooting
The file still appears to be a PNG
Check that the request actually includes format=pdf and that your code saves the raw response bytes. Changing only the filename to .pdf does not convert an image into a PDF.
The response is JSON or empty
Check response_type. The direct binary response is the documented default, by_format; other response types, including json and empty, do not have the same direct-file behavior.
The request fails
ScreenshotOne’s getting-started guide says errors can result from internal failures, invalid options, or limits, and describes HTTP status meanings and a JSON error object. Inspect the HTTP status and error response, correct invalid parameter values, and check the applicable limits in the documentation. For large HTML or Markdown input, use POST with a JSON body instead of putting the payload in the URL.
