If your YouTube live-streaming restriction period has ended but you still cannot go live, check the exact notice and your channel status in YouTube Studio before assuming access should have returned. Some Community Guidelines strike penalties end automatically; other restrictions can require a separate fix, channel verification, or an appeal. The notice shown in Studio—not a general countdown—is the best guide to what applies to your channel.
Check what kind of restriction YouTube applied
Open YouTube Studio and review the dashboard and any restriction or strike notices. YouTube’s steps differ depending on whether the issue is a Community Guidelines strike, a live-stream-specific restriction, a copyright interruption, or another eligibility or account-specific restriction.

- Community Guidelines strike: Check the strike and its penalty period. Certain publishing penalties end automatically if there are no further issues.
- Live-streaming restriction: Check whether Studio still shows a live-stream restriction. YouTube’s live-stream guidance describes a 14-day ban associated with a strike, but that is not necessarily the same event as a general publishing penalty.
- Copyright interruption: Look for a copyright strike or other listed issue and follow the instructions shown in Studio.
- Verification or eligibility issue: Confirm that the channel is verified and meets the current live-streaming eligibility conditions.
YouTube Help does not show publication dates for the policy pages covering these rules, and YouTube may change its policies or interface. Use the current Studio notice and instructions for your account.
Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?

For the Community Guidelines strike penalties described by YouTube, privileges return automatically after the penalty period if there are no further issues. A first strike blocks listed publishing privileges for one week. A second strike within the same 90-day period blocks posting for two weeks. The penalty period starts from the date the creator acknowledges the strike, so use the date and status shown in Studio rather than counting from when the content was removed.

The strike itself remains on the channel for 90 days after the penalty ends. Three strikes in the same 90-day period may result in channel removal. The end of a penalty does not guarantee that every live-streaming feature is available if another restriction or eligibility issue remains.
What to do when the period has ended but streaming is still disabled
- Recheck the notice in YouTube Studio. Confirm which restriction is active, its stated end date, and whether Studio lists an unresolved issue. Do not rely only on a calendar estimate.
- Check the channel’s live-streaming eligibility. YouTube says a channel needs to be verified and have had no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days to live stream. A restriction associated with a strike may carry a 14-day live-streaming ban; check the specific notice to determine whether it applies.
- Resolve any remaining item Studio identifies. A copyright issue or another account-specific restriction may not clear merely because a different penalty period ended. Follow the corrective steps YouTube lists.
- Try again only after Studio indicates the restriction is over and eligibility requirements are met. If Studio still shows a restriction, follow its instructions or appeal if you believe the strike is wrong.
YouTube also reserves the right to restrict live streaming at its discretion. The available guidance does not establish one universal restoration process for every discretionary or account-specific restriction, so the notice in Studio controls.

How to appeal a strike you believe is mistaken
- In YouTube Studio, open the Dashboard.
- Find the Channel violations card and choose Appeal.
- Submit the appeal within six months of the warning or strike. YouTube allows one appeal per strike.
- Wait for YouTube’s decision and check Studio for the updated channel status.
If an appeal succeeds, YouTube removes the strike. Deleting the video does not remove a strike, and deleting it can remove the option to appeal that content. Do not use another channel to live stream while a live-stream restriction is active; YouTube prohibits circumvention and may treat it as a Terms of Service violation.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteIf YouTube stopped a stream over copyright
YouTube scans live streams for third-party material. If a stream stops, check Studio for strikes and fix the listed issue. If you have a licence for third-party content, ask the rights holder to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. A licence alone may not prevent interruption if your channel is not allowlisted.
