For most Samsung front-load washers, the reset-like step is a power cycle: disconnect power for 1–5 minutes, then restore it. Samsung does not provide a general reset button or full reset procedure. A power cycle may clear a minor glitch, but it will not repair the fault behind a recurring error code.
Choose the reset that matches the problem
“Reset” can mean several different things. A power cycle briefly restarts the washer; calibration adjusts weight detection; a network reset erases Wi-Fi details. If an error code is displayed, record it before doing anything that might clear it.

- Washer seems temporarily unresponsive: try a power cycle.
- An error code appears or returns: look up that code for your exact model rather than repeatedly resetting.
- Weight sensing seems inaccurate, or the washer was installed or adjusted: check whether your model supports calibration.
- You need to remove saved Wi-Fi information: use the network-reset procedure only on a compatible Wi-Fi model.
Power-cycle the washer
- Note any error code currently on the display. Samsung says stored error history can help a technician diagnose a problem.
- Disconnect power by unplugging the washer if the plug is safely accessible. If it is not, switch off the circuit breaker serving the washer.
- Wait 1–5 minutes.
- Restore power and check whether the washer responds normally.
Samsung describes this as the closest equivalent to a reset, not a factory reset. Clearing a code from the display or memory does not correct the cause. If the same code returns, stop repeating the power cycle and follow Samsung’s troubleshooting for that code and model; request service if troubleshooting does not resolve it. Samsung’s washer reset guidance explains the power-cycle and error-history distinction.

Error codes point to conditions that need attention; removing a displayed code is not the same as fixing the washer. Use Samsung’s washer information and error-code guide to identify the code and choose the steps that apply to your model. Preserve the code if possible, especially if you may need service.

Calibrate only when weight detection is the issue
Calibration is separate from a reset. It recalibrates the washer’s weight detection, which affects how much water the machine uses. Samsung recommends calibration after installation or adjustments when the model supports it.
- Check the manual for your washer’s full model code and confirm that it supports calibration. Samsung models differ: some must be on to enter calibration mode, some must be off, and some do not offer the feature.
- Make sure the drum is completely empty.
- For models that use Samsung’s common entry method, hold Temp and Delay End until “Cb” appears.
- Press Start/Pause. The washer moves the empty drum during calibration; Samsung guides describe completion as taking roughly 1–3 minutes, with timing varying by model and guide.
Do not treat that button combination as universal. Follow the instructions for the exact model. Samsung explains the process and model variation in its guides to poor spinning and installation and calibration.

A network reset clears the washer’s saved network information; it does not reset the washer’s other functions or fix a mechanical fault. Samsung’s US instructions for compatible Wi-Fi washers are:
PC Slower Than It Used to Be?
A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11Outdated Drivers Are Slowing You Down
One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware match- Hold Smart Control until “AP” appears, about 3 seconds.
- Hold Temp until “OK” appears, about 7 seconds.
- Turn the washer off.
Use this only if your model supports Wi-Fi and the controls match Samsung’s instructions for it. You will need to set up the network connection again. See Samsung’s Wi-Fi reset directions and verify the procedure against your model manual.
When to contact Samsung service
Seek service if the same error returns after the relevant troubleshooting, calibration fails, or the washer still does not operate correctly. Samsung’s reset support page provides service-request options. Share the model code and any recorded error code; retained error history may help with diagnosis.
