Samsung AC remote not working after changing batteries?
1. Confirm the batteries
Samsung specifies two 1.5 V AAA batteries for the remote. Replace weak or depleted batteries, checking that they are installed in the correct orientation. Samsung says replacing them resets the remote’s modes. That does not establish that the change factory-resets the remote or pairs it with the indoor unit.

2. Aim at the indoor unit and reduce the distance
Point the remote toward the indoor unit and test from within about 10 m, Samsung’s recommended maximum distance for communication. Remove anything that may obstruct the path between the remote and the unit. Samsung’s instruction is to use the remote “toward the indoor unit direction” for better communication.
3. Check whether the air conditioner responds to its own controls
If your unit has accessible controls, check whether it responds there. Note any displayed error code, then consult the manual for your exact model rather than trying an unrelated key sequence. Samsung’s separate self-diagnosis instructions cover specified AR9500T models released after 2020; their hidden diagnostic sequence is not a general remote reset or pairing method.

- Open the Samsung support page for the unit’s region and exact model. Confirm that the model designation matches, including any suffix.
- Open the matching manual and look for remote setup, reset, or pairing instructions. Follow only the procedure given for that model, including any stated battery or power requirements.
- If no pairing procedure is listed, contact Samsung support with the full model number. Ask whether that unit uses a pairing process and what steps apply to it.
When should you replace the remote?
If the remote is damaged or missing, verify the replacement against the air conditioner’s full model number and sales region before buying. Samsung warns that remote appearance can differ by model, so a similar-looking controller is not proof of compatibility. Use the unit’s model support page or ask Samsung to confirm the replacement specification.
