If you forgot your Lenovo tablet’s PIN, pattern, or password, Lenovo’s documented option is to erase the tablet using Recovery mode, then set it up again. This is a factory reset—not a way to recover or reveal the old password—and it erases personal data stored on the tablet. On a protected device, Android may also ask you to verify ownership during the reset or setup.
Before you reset: understand what will be erased
Lenovo warns that a factory reset erases personal data from the tablet. Its general Android tablet guidance specifies that internal-storage data is erased and recommends backing up important files first. If the lock screen prevents access, you may not be able to make a new backup now. Lenovo also advises having at least 30% battery charge or connecting the tablet to power before resetting. For a forgotten lock code, Recovery mode is the relevant method because it does not require opening Settings. If you can still access the tablet, Lenovo’s general Settings route is Settings > General settings > Reset options; labels and paths can vary by Android version. Do not choose a reset until you are prepared for the data loss.

Lenovo publishes the following button procedure for an Android tablet with a forgotten PIN, pattern, or password. The exact model is not specified here, so button timing and compatibility are not guaranteed for every Lenovo tablet.

- Power the tablet off.
- Press and hold the Power button for one second. Without releasing it, press and hold Volume Up and Volume Down together.
- When the Lenovo logo appears, release Power but continue holding both volume buttons. Release the volume buttons when several rows of text appear; this is Recovery mode.
- Use the volume buttons to highlight Wipe data/factory reset, then press Power to confirm.
- When the wipe finishes and Recovery mode returns, select Reboot system now and press Power. Lenovo estimates the tablet will restart to the Android setup page in about two minutes. Lenovo’s forgotten unlock code instructions.
If this combination does not open Recovery mode, stop rather than trying random button sequences. Find the support page for the exact tablet model or contact Lenovo support; the title alone does not identify which model-specific procedure applies.
Complete setup and verify ownership if asked
After reboot, follow the Android setup prompts. A successful wipe does not necessarily remove ownership checks. Google says a protected device reset with its buttons may require the screen lock or offer verification with a Google Account previously added and synced to that device. If setup requires that information and you cannot provide it, Google says the device cannot be used after the reset. Google: Help prevent others from using your device without permission.

Before starting, make sure you can access the Google Account associated with the tablet. If you have forgotten its credentials, use Google Account recovery. The reset does not bypass these protections.
If the tablet does not reach Recovery mode
Because Lenovo’s published forgotten-code sequence may not apply to every model, check the model-specific instructions if the tablet repeatedly boots normally or does not respond to the button combination.
