How to Change Your Zelle Daily Limit

Zelle has no universal limit-change setting. Check your bank or credit union’s policy and ask its support team whether your limit can be adjusted.

You can’t change a Zelle daily limit through a universal Zelle setting. Your bank or credit union sets the sending and receiving limits, so check its app or online banking help—or contact its support team—to find out whether it allows a change. An increase is not guaranteed.

Who sets your Zelle limit?

Your bank or credit union determines the Zelle sending and receiving limits for your account. Zelle advises customers to contact their financial institution for their specific limits in its official limits FAQ. There is no single daily dollar amount that applies to every Zelle user.

Zelle’s guidance does not establish a universal setting for raising a limit, or promise that an institution will approve an increase. Whether your limit can change—and any conditions that apply—depends on your institution.

How to ask your bank or credit union to change it

  1. Open the mobile banking app or online banking account where you use Zelle.

  2. Look in the Zelle, transfers, or payments area. Search your institution’s help pages or FAQs for its sending limit and any instructions for requesting a change. Zelle’s help on changing the account used with Zelle also directs users to their institution’s app, FAQs, or support; changing a linked account is not itself a way to raise a limit.

  3. If you can’t find a limit-change option or the policy is unclear, contact your bank or credit union’s customer support. For Zelle used through a bank’s app or online banking, Zelle says the institution handles enrollment and payment-related issues. You can use the number on the back of your debit card, as described in Zelle’s guidance for bank and credit union customers.

Why there’s no universal set of steps

You haven’t named your bank or credit union, so an exact screen-by-screen path, maximum amount, eligibility rule, or processing time can’t be given here. App labels and policies vary by institution and may change. Your institution is the source for the limit on your account and whether it can be adjusted.
