How do I request a wholesale quote?
Build the request as a set of product lines. For each item, identify what you want and how many; add configuration details when the product has variants or options. Then provide your contact and delivery information so the seller can assess pricing and shipping. A seller’s form may use different labels, but the goal is a shared, specific list of what is being priced.

- Add each product as its own line. Use the product name plus a SKU, manufacturer part number, URL, or another stable identifier when possible.
- Enter a quantity for every line. If you need different amounts of two products, do not combine them into one quantity or describe them only in prose.
- Specify variants or configuration. Include size, color, model, packaging, or other choices that distinguish the item you need.
- Add item-specific notes. Use these for requirements that apply to one product, such as a particular configuration or an acceptable substitute.
- Provide request-wide context separately. Include the delivery location, preferred delivery date, project context, and questions that apply to the whole request in the general notes or message field.
- Review the quote before accepting. Check products, quantities, prices, discounts, shipping, and any expiration date against what you requested.
This is a practical form-design recommendation, not a universal legal standard. Sellers may need additional information depending on the products and delivery.

A message field is still useful: it can hold exceptions and questions that do not fit the structured fields. The problem is relying on it to carry the complete order list. When a seller has to infer item identity, quantities, or variants from a paragraph, buyer and seller may not be looking at the same scope. Major quote workflows instead represent products and quantities as quote lines, with messages attached separately. BigCommerce’s B2B Edition support documentation describes product-specific notes and quote messages as separate mechanisms.

Can I request a quote for multiple products?
Yes, where the seller’s quote workflow supports multi-item requests. Amazon Business says its Request for Quote process can include multiple products and quantities; products can be found by ASIN, Amazon URL, keyword, supplier SKU, or manufacturer part number. Amazon Business describes the RFQ workflow and says sellers typically respond within one to two business days. That response window is Amazon’s statement about its service, not a market-wide promise.
BigCommerce’s B2B Edition documentation also describes quote requests with product lines, quantities, SKU and variant details, and custom or non-purchasable items. The available fields and actions can depend on the merchant’s edition, configuration, and permissions; consult the seller’s actual process if a product is unavailable through ordinary checkout. BigCommerce support documentation covers buyer and seller quote workflows, while its quote API documentation describes custom line pricing, products, shipping, expiration, and checkout actions.

How do I get bulk pricing?
Ask the seller to quote the quantities you actually need, with each product and its quantity on a distinct line. If you are comparing a few possible order sizes, state each option clearly rather than leaving the seller to guess; ask whether pricing changes by quantity and whether shipping or other terms differ. No reviewed source establishes a universal bulk discount threshold or a guaranteed price reduction.

Quotes can be negotiated, so check the revised offer line by line. Adobe Commerce’s documentation dated June 15, 2026 describes quote negotiation that can add or remove products, change quantities, apply line-level or quote-wide discounts, change shipping, and include comments. Adobe Commerce quote documentation explains those capabilities. A change to one line can affect the total, so confirm the final list and quantities before accepting.

What happens after the seller sends a quote?
Review the offer against the request rather than checking only the grand total. Confirm the item identity, variant, quantity, unit or line pricing, discounts, shipping method and cost, and any expiration. A quote may be revised before acceptance, but the platform’s available actions and the seller’s terms vary.
- Amazon Business: Its documentation says quoted prices are locked for at least seven days, subject to seller-set expiration dates. Treat this as a statement about that service, not a general rule for wholesale quotes.
- BigCommerce B2B Edition: Its documentation describes quote expiration and actions that can lead to checkout.
- Salesforce: Its help documentation describes submitting cart products with quantities and target pricing, seller revisions, and accepting an approved quote to place the quoted items in the cart at the approved price. Salesforce’s buyer quote help page explains that flow.
These are platform-specific workflows, not evidence that every seller’s quote can be converted directly into an order. Confirm how acceptance works in the system you are using.

If you are selecting or configuring a business-to-business commerce system, compare the workflow against the transactions your buyers actually make. Product documentation describes features, but does not establish one universally best platform.

- Multiple products: Can buyers add several products to one request, each with its own quantity?
- Item identity: Can the request retain SKUs, variants, custom products, or items that cannot be purchased through ordinary checkout?
- Negotiation: Can sellers revise quantities, line pricing, discounts, and shipping, and can buyers comment or ask for changes?
- Validity and follow-through: Can the seller set an expiration, and can an accepted quote proceed to checkout or order placement?
- Fit with your setup: Check the actual edition, integrations, configuration, and user permissions in your commerce stack; published capabilities alone do not guarantee they are enabled in your environment.
