How to Report Bugs and Send Feedback in Opera Developer

Use Opera Developer’s Help menu or official bug report wizard to submit a browser issue. Find the right steps for Mac, Windows, and Linux, plus what to include in a useful report.

In Opera Developer, start with the browser’s built-in Report an Issue command. On Mac, open Help > Report an Issue; on Windows or Linux, open O Menu > Help > Report an issue. If those menu options are missing or named differently in your build, use Opera’s official bug report wizard.

Report a browser bug from Opera Developer

  1. Mac: Choose Help > Report an Issue from the menu.
  2. Windows or Linux: Choose O Menu > Help > Report an issue.
  3. Describe what happened, how severe the problem seems, and the steps or circumstances that led to it. For a website problem, identify the site and explain what you expected to happen versus what actually happened.

These are the general desktop Opera Help instructions; they do not confirm that every Opera Developer build uses identical labels or has an additional Developer-specific control. Opera Help also provides a bug report wizard for describing an issue. If the menus differ in your installed version, use the wizard or check Opera Help.

What to include in your report

  • What happened: Describe the visible behavior, error, or failure rather than only saying that something is broken.
  • Severity: State how disruptive the problem is.
  • Steps and context: List what you did before the issue appeared. For a freeze or crash, include what you were doing when it occurred.
  • For a page issue: Name the page or service and compare the result you expected with the result you saw.

If Opera crashes, its crash dialog can accept your comments and include technical crash details with the report.

Optional profile archive for a persistent crash

If the browser continues crashing after recovery steps, Opera Help suggests that you can submit a compressed copy of the profile folder as diagnostic material. Identify a file if you found one that appears to cause the crash. Opera says submitted files can help reproduce the problem; remove sensitive files if you wish, but removing a file needed to reproduce the crash may make diagnosis impossible. A profile archive is optional for a persistent crash, not a routine attachment for every report.

Use the right route for forums and extensions

Community questions and discussion

Opera’s help site directs users to the Opera Community forums to ask questions or share tips. A pinned moderator post dated August 13, 2025 recommends submitting browser bugs through Help, noting that those reports are tracked together by Opera’s team. Use the forum for community discussion and the in-browser report route for a bug submission.

Problems with an extension

For an extension issue, Opera’s FAQ recommends sending feedback directly to the extension author through the Opera add-ons store, or reporting it through the bug report wizard. Give a precise description and include a link to the extension.

Is the address-bar Feedback icon still available?

Opera’s Desktop Blog documented a Feedback icon in Opera 48 Developer on July 31, 2017. It appeared on the right side of the combined search and address bar and opened common issue types with an optional comment. The post said the report included the domain and selected problem types, but not the exact page address, and described a setting to hide the feature.

That announcement describes Opera 48 Developer in 2017; current Opera Help instructions do not establish whether the icon or the same data handling is present in today’s Developer builds. Treat old screenshots and articles as historical context, not confirmation of a current reporting route. Use the Help command or bug report wizard instead.
