For a report you submitted, look in Instagram’s Help area for Support Requests and open the report decision. If Instagram removed your post, use the review option in the removal notice or the current account support flow, if one is available.
If you reported someone else’s post
- Open Instagram’s Help area and look for Support Requests.
- Open the relevant report to check its status and Instagram’s decision. Instagram’s 2024 Annual Online Safety Report describes report status and outcomes in this area; menu labels may change.
- If Instagram left the content up and offers another review, use the option shown in that report. The opportunity is conditional, not guaranteed for every report.
If Instagram removed your own post
Open the removal notification or the relevant account support flow and follow the review option shown for that decision. Meta’s 2018 description of its expanded appeals process said users would be notified and offered additional review when their photo, video, or post was removed for violating Community Standards. That historical announcement does not confirm today’s labels, a universal deadline, or eligibility for every content category. If no review option appears, use the support options currently available in your account rather than relying on a deadline or route that is not shown.

If the post is hidden or unavailable
A post that you cannot see may be hidden, deleted, or otherwise inaccessible; its absence alone does not establish why. The available Instagram-specific guidance does not confirm one universal process for reporting content that is already unavailable. If Instagram’s reporting form lets you provide details, include the post link, username, and a concise description so the content can be identified. Meta’s Community Guidelines page recommends those details, but it is not a current, Instagram-specific procedure for reporting an inaccessible post.

For some eligible decisions about content left up after a report and Meta review, an appeal to the Oversight Board may be possible. Meta’s 2021 announcement described this route for certain Facebook and Instagram decisions and said it was rolling out in waves. The Board does not take every case, and that announcement does not establish current eligibility for a particular decision. Check the current instructions and eligibility for your case before pursuing it.

Use Instagram’s official support routes
Meta announced in March 2026 that a support assistant was rolling out globally on Instagram and Facebook for topics including reporting problematic content, understanding removals, and appeal options. Availability and features may vary as rollout changes. Account-login support began with select cases in the United States and Canada, with expansion planned; do not assume that feature is available to every account or location. Avoid services that promise to restore a post or bypass Instagram’s review: the official materials cited here do not establish that a paid third party can do either.
