To replace drone propellers safely, identify your exact aircraft model and follow that model’s current manufacturer instructions. Propeller markings, motor rotation, attachment methods and fasteners vary, so do not assume that a procedure for one drone applies to another. Use the manufacturer-specified replacement part and confirm which propeller belongs on each motor before fitting it.
Before you begin: identify your drone and the right parts
Find the aircraft’s exact model name and consult its current manual or manufacturer repair instructions. The title of this guide does not identify a particular aircraft, and even different product families from the same brand can use different propeller markings and attachment systems.
Before ordering, confirm that the replacement is compatible with that exact model. Check the manufacturer’s instructions and the product listing for whether propellers must be replaced as a matched pair and whether the required screws are included or must be reused. How to replace a propeller
- Power off the aircraft. Prevent accidental motor startup before handling the propellers. Blades can be sharp; handle them carefully and do not bend or squeeze them.
- Orient the aircraft as shown in its manual. Identify each motor and propeller using the markings specified for your model. Do not rely on a general clockwise or counterclockwise rule.
- Remove the damaged propeller using the model’s prescribed method. Follow the manual for the correct release direction, tool and fastener handling. For instance, DJI’s Mavic 3 instructions describe pressing down and turning according to whether a propeller has a white ring; some Mini and Avata instructions instead specify removing screws with the supplied screwdriver. - Fit the matching replacement to its designated motor. Use only the specified attachment method and manufacturer-specified screws or mechanism. Seat and secure the propeller as directed. Do not guess a turn direction or substitute a torque value that the manual does not provide.
- Check the installation before flight. Inspect the propellers and motors and confirm they are securely installed according to the aircraft’s instructions. When should you replace a propeller?
Replace a propeller if it is broken, worn, misshapen or corroded; do not fly with a damaged blade. DJI’s Mini 3 support guidance says to check propellers before each flight, replace damaged ones immediately, and replace the pair rather than just one propeller. Do not infer a universal replacement interval from that advice. The material cited here establishes an inspection-before-flight instruction for the Mini 3, not a recurring replacement schedule for every drone.

Correct markings, rotation direction, attachment type, fasteners and pair-replacement requirements depend on the aircraft model. DJI’s own examples include both press-and-turn mounts and screw-mounted propellers; a fitting procedure that works for one can damage or improperly secure another. The manual is also the authority for model-specific details such as screw type and any torque specification. If you cannot confirm the model or the correct fitting procedure, do not improvise—check the manufacturer’s support instructions before flying.
