Use the battery part number in the service documentation or confirm it with ASUS support. The example ASUS service manual recommends obtaining a compatible battery through authorized retailers. Before ordering, verify that the part number matches your exact model and that the seller identifies it as compatible with that model. Do not rely on a broad search for an “ASUS laptop battery” alone.
ASUS describes lithium-ion batteries as consumables whose capacity declines naturally. It does not give one lifespan, cycle count, or capacity threshold that applies to every laptop: the rate depends on system design, usage, and settings.
Choose self-replacement or professional service

- Shut down and disconnect. Follow the manual’s instructions for powering down and disconnecting the adapter and peripherals before opening the chassis.
- Open only as directed. Remove the cover or access panel in the order specified for your model; do not assume the battery is accessible in the same way across models.
- Disconnect and remove the battery as specified. Follow the manual’s instructions for the battery connector, screws, adhesive, and lifting. Do not pry or pull by the cable unless the guide explicitly directs it.
- Install and reassemble in the documented order. Use the compatible battery and follow the manual for reconnection and fastening.
- Check operation. Use the model’s support instructions to confirm the battery is recognized and charging.
The differences are practical, not cosmetic. For example, the UX425QA repair manual describes disconnecting the adapter and battery connector before removing six battery screws. Other ASUS models may have a different screw count, access method, connector placement, or adhesive arrangement.

ASUS says a swollen battery should be replaced and should not go in household waste. Its Battery Information Center directs users to contact local ASUS customer service about disposal. Check local battery collection rules as well, since disposal requirements vary by location. If the battery is swollen, use ASUS support or a qualified repair provider to arrange replacement rather than treating it as an ordinary battery swap.
