They describe going live from a phone using the camera or screen sharing, but not a local-video source with a repeat control. You can try sharing a video player on your phone, but treat that as an unverified workaround—not a dependable looping setup.
What Streamlabs Mobile supports in its published guides
Streamlabs’ YouTube mobile guide describes connecting to YouTube and starting a live event, with camera and screen-sharing workflows. Its broader Streamlabs Mobile guide covers mobile setup and stream settings. Neither reviewed guide documents choosing a prerecorded local video file as a source and enabling repeat playback.

Try screen sharing only as an unverified workaround
If you want to experiment, open the video in a player on your phone and use Streamlabs Mobile’s screen-sharing option to send the phone screen to YouTube. The repeat control, if available, belongs to the separate player; Streamlabs’ guides do not confirm that it will keep looping while the screen is shared.

- Check eligibility first. YouTube’s mobile live-streaming guidance lists channel verification, live streaming enabled, no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, and at least 50 subscribers. YouTube says the first mobile stream may take up to 24 hours to become available. Requirements can change, so consult the current YouTube page for your channel.
- Connect Streamlabs Mobile to YouTube. Follow the current Streamlabs YouTube mobile instructions to connect your account and start a test live event.
- Choose screen sharing, not the camera workflow. Start the phone’s video player and select the screen-sharing workflow in Streamlabs Mobile. The exact controls may differ between app and operating-system versions.
- Set repeat in the video player, if it offers that option. This is a player setting, not a documented Streamlabs repeat feature. Do not assume playback will continue if the screen locks, the app is backgrounded, or the phone changes power state.
- Test privately or unlisted before going public. Confirm that viewers receive both picture and sound, that playback actually repeats, and that it remains active with the phone in the state you intend to use. Streamlabs’ documentation does not verify repeat behavior, background playback, or audio capture for this method.
For a long-running stream, a phone screen-share experiment leaves playback and connectivity dependent on the phone, player, and network, without a documented repeat or recovery guarantee. If continuous prerecorded playback is the goal, look for an encoder or cloud service that explicitly supports looping files. YouTube’s encoder setup guide explains connecting an encoder with YouTube’s stream URL and stream key; it does not establish that any particular encoder supports looping.
Plan for YouTube archives and content rights
Keep your own recording if the archive matters
YouTube says streams under 12 hours may be archived automatically, but streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. Keep a separate local recording if you need a reliable copy; do not assume a continuous stream will become one complete replay. See YouTube’s archive guidance.

Use video and audio you have the right to stream
YouTube scans live streams for third-party copyrighted content. A match can lead to a placeholder, interruption, or termination. A license alone may not prevent interruption: YouTube says the rights holder may need to allowlist your channel. You are responsible for holding the necessary rights, including applicable music rights. Use content you own or are licensed to stream, and review YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams and livestream terms.
Common problems with the screen-share experiment
- You cannot start a mobile live stream: Check YouTube’s current mobile eligibility requirements, including verification, streaming restrictions, and subscriber threshold. If this is your first mobile stream, allow up to 24 hours for availability.
- The video plays once and stops: The repeat function is controlled by the separate player. Check whether it has a repeat setting; the Streamlabs guides do not document one.
- Playback stops when you lock the phone or switch apps: The guides do not establish background playback for this setup. Keep the screen and player active during a test, and do not rely on the method unattended unless it behaves consistently on your exact device.
- Viewers hear no audio or see a blank screen: Screen-capture and audio behavior can vary by device and app. Verify both on a private or unlisted stream before sharing publicly.
- The stream is interrupted over music or video: Review your rights and YouTube’s copyright guidance. Licensed material may still require the rights holder to allowlist your channel.
- The live replay is incomplete or missing: YouTube warns that streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. Maintain a separate local recording if you need an archive.
