Find the exact profile, submit its URL, choose a reason, and complete the reported phone verification. The process may take from a few hours to as long as 15 days, according to current secondary guides, so check the listing again rather than treating any estimate as a deadline.
How to remove yourself from Whitepages
Whitepages’ published support page and suppression form were not accessible to the sources reviewed for this guide. The steps below reflect two current secondary guides, not an independently tested form. Whitepages may change its interface; use the current form and follow its on-screen instructions.

- Find your listing. Search Whitepages for your name and location. If several records appear, compare the details and make sure you have the profile that belongs to you.
- Copy the full profile URL. Open the matching listing and copy its complete web address. The URL helps identify the record you want suppressed.
- Submit the URL through Whitepages’ suppression form. Paste the listing address into the form, continue, confirm the matching information, and select the removal action presented.
- Choose a reason. Select the reason that best fits your request and continue.
- Complete phone verification. Enter a number that can receive the automated verification call, then follow the displayed code prompt to finish.
Because a wrong profile URL can direct the request at someone else’s record, verify the listing carefully before submitting. [Source: current removal guide; Source: independent guide]

How long removal may take—and what to do if the listing remains
Published estimates vary. One current guide reports that requests are often completed within hours but may take 24 to 72 hours; another says formal privacy requests may take up to 15 days and are often processed sooner. These are reported estimates, not a Whitepages guarantee. Check the profile again after submitting and allow for the longer estimate before concluding the request has failed. If the listing is still visible after the reported window, revisit the current Whitepages form or support instructions and check whether the request needs to be completed again. The sources reviewed do not establish a specific escalation route or a guaranteed resolution time.
What a Whitepages opt-out does—and does not do
Suppressing one Whitepages listing does not remove your information from other people-search websites. Each service may have its own removal process, so broader cleanup means identifying and submitting requests to other relevant sites separately. [Current guide]
A listing can also reappear if Whitepages collects new information about you. Periodically searching for your name and requesting removal again if needed is a practical way to monitor for that possibility. Norton similarly advises consumers to monitor where their information appears and request removals as needed. [Independent guide; Norton guidance]
California residents: consider DROP for broader broker requests
California residents can use the state’s free Delete Request and Opt-out Platform (DROP) to send a single deletion request to over 600 registered data brokers, according to the California Privacy Protection Agency’s 2026 platform information. Eligibility is limited to California residents. The agency says brokers must begin accessing DROP at least once every 45 days starting August 1, 2026, and status updates in DROP may take up to 90 days. [California Privacy Protection Agency]
DROP is not a confirmed substitute for Whitepages’ direct suppression form: the available state information does not establish whether a particular Whitepages listing is covered or whether an individual record will be removed. Check the current registry and consider submitting directly to Whitepages if you want to target a specific profile.
| Route | Who can use it | Scope and reported steps | Timing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Whitepages suppression | Anyone with a matching listing, based on the guides’ described process. | Targets a specific listing URL; current guides report a reason selection and phone verification. | Guides report estimates ranging from 24–72 hours to up to 15 days for formal privacy requests; not guaranteed. |
| California DROP | California residents. | One request to over 600 registered brokers; requires California residency verification and a profile. Whitepages-specific coverage is not established. | DROP status updates may take up to 90 days; brokers must begin accessing it at least once every 45 days starting August 1, 2026. |
The California Privacy Protection Agency describes the platform this way: “DROP gives you more control over your data.” That is an agency statement about the platform, not a promise that it will remove a particular Whitepages record. [California Privacy Protection Agency]

A people-search profile can make personal details easier for others to find. Requesting suppression is one concrete privacy step if you do not want your listing publicly discoverable on Whitepages. It is not a comprehensive deletion of personal information across the web, and it does not prevent new data from being collected later.
