To remove a tile from the homepage inside Yahoo Scout, open Scout, choose Edit tiles, click the trash-can icon on the tile, then select Done. If Yahoo appears when your web browser starts or opens a new tab, that is a different setting: change the browser’s homepage or startup page, and check extensions if Yahoo returns.
First, identify where Yahoo is appearing
Yahoo uses “MyScout” for a customizable homepage inside Yahoo Scout. Your browser’s homepage or startup page is a separate setting—the page your browser displays when it opens. A Yahoo tile in Scout, Yahoo at browser startup, and Yahoo on a new tab therefore need different fixes.

- Only a tile inside Scout: remove it in MyScout’s tile editor.
- Yahoo opens when the browser starts: replace Yahoo in the browser’s homepage or startup settings.
- Yahoo comes back after you change the setting, or appears in new tabs: review browser extensions as well.
Remove a tile from MyScout
- Open Yahoo Scout or the Yahoo Search app.
- Select Edit tiles.
- Find the tile you want to remove and click its trash-can icon.
- Select Done.
These steps remove a tile from MyScout; they do not change your browser’s homepage. Yahoo says you can restore a removed tile with +Add a tile. Its instructions are on an Android help page, so controls may not look identical in every app version. Yahoo describes MyScout as a personalized page that can include search-query tiles or content from a connected Yahoo account; it says users can add up to 20 customized query tiles. If Yahoo appears as soon as you open Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge, change that browser’s homepage or startup-page setting and replace the Yahoo address with the page you want. This is not controlled by MyScout. Yahoo’s help page links to instructions for those four browsers; use the instructions for your browser rather than changing Scout tiles. Browser settings and labels can vary by browser version. Yahoo’s page identifies the relevant browsers but does not establish one universal menu path, so consult the browser’s own current support instructions if you need exact clicks.
If Yahoo returns or appears on new tabs
A browser extension can affect the homepage, new-tab page, or search engine. Yahoo advises that extensions or add-ons may interfere with its products. Its extension information says Yahoo Homepage for Chrome automatically sets Yahoo.com as the homepage and new-tab page; it says Search and New Tab sets Yahoo as the default search engine and displays photos on new tabs. - Open your browser’s extensions or add-ons manager.
- Review extensions you recently installed or do not recognize.
- Remove or disable only extensions you recognize as unwanted, then check whether the homepage or new-tab behavior changes.
An extension is one possible cause when a setting keeps reverting; its presence does not by itself show that Yahoo Scout is malware or establish what caused a particular browser’s behavior.

What deleting Scout history does—and does not—change
Deleting a Scout thread removes search history; it does not remove a MyScout tile or change the browser’s startup page. Yahoo’s history controls are separate and require you to be signed in to view history. Yahoo Help: View or delete your Yahoo Scout search history.
