To remove the God Mode folder in Windows 11, open File Explorer, select the folder, and press Delete. You can also right-click it and choose Delete. This removes only the special grouped view of Windows tools; it does not uninstall, disable, or erase the settings themselves.
The folder is an access shortcut, not a separate application. Windows settings remain available through Control Panel after you delete it.

What the God Mode folder is
“God Mode” is an informal name for a folder whose special name makes Windows display a broad collection of Control Panel shortcuts in one place. The folder does not add a new Windows component and does not contain a separate settings database. It organizes links to tools and options that already exist in Windows.

That distinction matters before you delete it. You are removing an access point, not removing Windows settings. The same options remain available individually through Control Panel and other normal Windows interfaces.
Quick removal instructions
- Open File Explorer and browse to the location of the God Mode folder. It is commonly on the Desktop, but it can be anywhere you created or moved it.
- Click the folder once to select it.
- Press the Delete key on your keyboard. Alternatively, right-click the folder and select Delete from the context menu.
- If Windows displays a confirmation prompt, approve it.
The folder normally moves to the Recycle Bin like another ordinary folder. The special settings view disappears as soon as the folder is removed from its original location.
How to identify the correct folder before deleting
Do not delete a folder merely because it has a similar name. The God Mode folder is identified by the special name used when it was created and by its distinctive settings-oriented contents.

Check its location
Look first on the Desktop, then in other folders where you normally keep shortcuts. If you use File Explorer’s search box, search for GodMode. The folder may have been renamed for display purposes, so opening likely candidates and checking their contents is safer than deleting every search result.
Check the contents
Open the folder and look for many shortcuts to Windows tools and Control Panel tasks. It should look like a catalog of settings rather than a normal folder containing documents, photos, or application files. If you see personal files, stop and verify the folder’s identity before deleting anything.
Use the folder’s properties when necessary
Right-click the suspected folder and choose Properties if you need to confirm its location or inspect its name. You can cancel the Properties dialog without changing anything. Do not rename or move files inside it simply to test what they do.

What deleting the folder changes

In practical terms, deleting the folder is a cleanup operation. It does not reset Windows, change system policies, remove applications, or disable the tools represented by the shortcuts.

Delete it from File Explorer
Method 1: Keyboard
- Open File Explorer with the folder icon on the taskbar or another shortcut.
- Navigate to the God Mode folder’s location.
- Single-click the folder so it is highlighted.
- Press Delete.
- Read the confirmation message, if one appears, and select the confirmation option.
Use a single click for selection. Double-clicking opens the folder instead of selecting it.
Method 2: Context menu
- Open the folder’s location in File Explorer.
- Right-click the God Mode folder.
- Select Delete.
- Confirm the prompt if Windows asks you to do so.
This is the same operation documented by Windows 11 how-to guidance; the context-menu method is useful when the keyboard key is unavailable or when you want to see the command before using it.
If you moved shortcuts out of the main folder
Some people drag or copy individual God Mode shortcuts to the Desktop, another folder, or a taskbar location. Those items become separate shortcut files. Deleting the original God Mode folder does not automatically remove copies that you placed elsewhere.
After deleting the main folder, check locations where you may have moved individual shortcuts. Delete each unwanted shortcut separately by selecting it and pressing Delete, or by using its right-click Delete command. Removing a copied shortcut still does not remove the Windows setting that the shortcut opens.
Do not confuse a shortcut with the setting
A shortcut is only a pointer to a tool or control-panel page. If you delete the pointer, Windows keeps the destination. This is why removing both the main folder and any copied shortcuts is safe when your goal is simply to clear visible clutter.

What to do if the folder is not where you expect
It is not on the Desktop
God Mode is not required to live on the Desktop. Search other locations you use for folders, including Documents or a custom utilities directory. In File Explorer, use the search field and enter GodMode, then inspect the results before deleting anything.
The displayed name is different
The special folder name can be hidden or replaced with a friendlier display name. A renamed folder may still contain the same collection of settings shortcuts. Check the contents and Properties rather than relying only on the visible name.
You cannot find it because it was already deleted
If the folder is absent from its original location and no matching item appears in File Explorer search, it may already have been removed or moved. Check the Recycle Bin if you want to restore it, or search likely folders for the settings shortcuts you may have copied elsewhere.
If Windows will not delete it
Close anything using the folder
Close any File Explorer window currently displaying the folder’s contents. Also close a shortcut or settings page that you opened directly from it, then try the Delete command again.
Check whether you selected a file inside it
When the folder is open, pressing Delete may act on a selected shortcut instead of the folder. Navigate up one level, select the folder itself, and then use Delete.
Try the other deletion method
If the keyboard command does nothing, right-click the folder and select Delete. If the context menu is inconvenient, select the folder and use the keyboard. Both methods remove the same folder.

Consider permissions and synchronization
A folder stored in a protected or synchronized location may display an additional prompt. Read the message carefully and confirm that it refers to the God Mode folder, not another item with a similar name. Do not change ownership or permissions merely to remove an ordinary shortcut folder.
Recover the folder if you delete it accidentally
If you removed the wrong folder, open the Recycle Bin and locate the item. Right-click it and choose Restore. Windows returns it to its original location when that location is still available.
If you emptied the Recycle Bin, the God Mode view itself is not essential system data. You can recreate the special folder instead of attempting to recover Windows settings. Any unrelated files that were in a mistakenly deleted folder are a separate recovery concern and should be handled with appropriate backups or recovery procedures.
Recreate God Mode later
If you decide that the grouped view was useful, guides from PCWorld and Guiding Tech show recreating it with the following exact folder name:
GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}
- Open the location where you want the view, such as the Desktop.
- Create a new folder.
- Rename the folder to the exact text shown above, including the period, braces, hyphens, and characters.
- Press Enter. Windows should change the folder into the settings-oriented view.
The name is significant. A missing character or an extra space can leave you with an ordinary folder instead of the special view. If you no longer want it, delete the resulting folder using the same keyboard or context-menu steps.

Deleting the folder does not remove access to Windows configuration. You can continue opening individual options through Control Panel, where the underlying tools remain available. You may also use the normal Windows search and Settings navigation for tasks that are exposed there.
The trade-off is convenience: God Mode puts many links in one window, while Control Panel and Settings organize them by category or task. Choose the interface that best matches how you work; neither approach depends on the presence of the special folder.
Common questions before deletion
Is God Mode a Windows feature that must be uninstalled?
No. It is an informal label for a specially named folder that groups existing shortcuts. There is no separate God Mode program to uninstall.
Will deleting it break Windows?
Deleting the folder removes its shortcuts, not the Windows settings behind them. The settings remain accessible through Control Panel.

A God Mode folder created in a normal user location, such as the Desktop, generally behaves like an ordinary folder. If Windows presents a permission or synchronization prompt, read it before confirming and make sure the selected item is the folder you intend to remove.
Does deleting the folder remove shortcuts I copied elsewhere?
No. Copied or moved shortcuts are separate items. Delete those individually if you no longer want them.
Can I get the view back?
Yes. Recreate a folder using GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C} in the desired location.
