If that option is missing or blocked, the organization that enrolled the tablet must release it through the MobiControl Web Console. A factory reset is not a reliable substitute for that release.
Try unenrolling from the MobiControl agent
- Open the SOTI MobiControl agent on the Samsung tablet.
- Find Enrollment Status and press and hold it, if the option is available. SOTI identifies this as a possible self-service route, but availability depends on the device’s configuration. SOTI’s help describes the separate console unenrollment action; its FAQ gives the agent instructions and warns that devices are often blocked from unenrolling. SOTI Product Support.
- If the agent reports that unenrollment is blocked, or there is no Enrollment Status option, stop and contact the school, employer, or other organization that manages the tablet.
Ask the organization’s administrator to unenroll it
Ask the MobiControl administrator to unenroll the tablet from the Web Console. SOTI’s 2025.1 help defines Unenroll as removing a device from MobiControl management so it can be reassigned; the action requires the administrator to have the Unenroll permission. Read SOTI’s Unenroll documentation.

This is the appropriate route when the tablet is organization-owned, self-service is blocked, or you do not have permission to remove management. If you bought the tablet second-hand and it is still managed, contact the organization that enrolled it or the seller; do not try to bypass its controls.
Do not confuse unenrolling with uninstalling the agent
Unenrollment removes the device from MobiControl management. Uninstalling the agent removes the app. SOTI treats these as separate tasks and says agent-removal procedures vary by operating system. Removing devices and uninstalling device agents are covered separately in its documentation.

Whether you can uninstall the agent depends on the organization’s configuration. SOTI documents an Android Enterprise control that can prevent a device user from uninstalling an application, but that does not establish whether the control is enabled on your tablet. Android Enterprise restrictions. The exact Samsung model, Android version, enrollment type, and agent version also affect the available steps, so a general Samsung Settings path cannot be assumed.
Consider a factory reset only with the organization’s agreement
SOTI’s FAQ says a factory reset may restore a device to a normal state if you have access, but also cautions that devices are blocked from unenrolling and resetting in most cases. A reset can erase data stored on the tablet, and it is not a guaranteed way to remove organizational management. Ask the organization’s administrator before resetting an organization-owned or managed device.

If the tablet returns to management during setup after a reset, contact the organization that enrolled it. The available SOTI guidance does not establish why that happens for a particular Galaxy model or provide a model-specific remedy.
What to tell IT support
To get the right release instructions, provide the tablet’s Galaxy model, Android version, and whether it belongs to a school or employer. Also say whether the agent shows Enrollment Status and what happens when you try to use it. If you do not know the Android version, you can find it in the tablet’s Settings under About tablet; labels can vary by model and software version.
