Removing an AI agent from a group chat stops its access through that conversation; it does not necessarily uninstall the app or revoke its credentials. For a complete offboarding, identify the chat platform, the agent or app, and whether you need to remove conversation membership, disable an integration, revoke a token, or disconnect a company account. These are separate controls, and the correct steps depend on the platform and agent type.
Choose the access layer you need to remove
Start by deciding what “remove” should mean in your situation. A bot can be absent from one chat yet remain installed in the workspace, authorized with a token, or connected to company data.

Removing membership is not the same as revoking a token. Nor should you assume that removing an agent deletes its earlier messages or copies of data held elsewhere.
Remove the agent in Slack
Remove it from one channel
- Open the channel and select its name.
- Open Agents & Apps.
- Use the More menu beside the agent or app and select Remove from this channel.
Slack also documents a shortcut from an agent message: open More actions and select Remove this agent from the channel. These actions address channel membership, not necessarily the app installation or its credentials. See Slack’s Work with AI agents in Slack.

Revoke its token or remove the app
Slack’s auth.revoke method revokes the specified token. For a bot user token, Slack documents that revocation deactivates the bot user and removes its channel memberships, but the app remains installed. An org-wide app must be removed by an org admin in the admin console for complete removal from the workspace or organization. Treat token revocation and uninstall as distinct steps.
Remove a bot or Channel Agent in Microsoft Teams
Standard Teams bot in a channel
- Open the channel’s More options menu.
- Select Manage team.
- Under Apps, select Uninstall beside the bot.
Microsoft says that after this removal, teammates can no longer @mention the bot in the team and it can no longer post there. Channel Agent in a meeting or group chat
Channel Agent has a different removal process from a standard Teams bot. To remove it from a meeting or group chat, use Add people, agents, and bots, select the agent, and choose Remove. Microsoft says this prevents access through that group chat.

To delete the Channel Agent itself, go to its channel, open View channel audience, choose the agent, and select Delete. Microsoft says deletion removes it from conversations where it was added and deletes related data. The feature is labeled public preview, so availability and behavior may change. Removal may be limited to eligible channel members with a Copilot subscription and, where restricted, channel owners. Follow Microsoft’s How to remove Channel Agent for current details.

Remove a Teams chat member through Microsoft Graph
For automated administration, Microsoft Graph v1.0 documents removing a chat member with DELETE /chats/{chat-id}/members/{membership-id}. A successful request returns HTTP 204 No Content. This removes chat membership; it does not itself revoke separate app tokens or connected-account access. See Remove member from chat – Microsoft Graph v1.0.
Remove a Chat app from a Google Chat space
The Google Chat API supports deleting a Chat app’s membership from a space. A Google Workspace administrator can remove Chat apps from spaces in the organization. API use requires the appropriate authentication mode, scope, and permission; Google says app authentication needs one-time administrator approval. Deleting space membership should not be treated as revoking the app’s service-account credentials. See Google for Developers’ Remove a member from a space.

Check connected company accounts and service identities
If the agent can access company tools or data, inspect the connection owner, granted permissions, service account, and any person-authorized connections separately. In its guide to @ChatGPT, OpenAI says the assistant uses its own service account and organization-configured company connections; those connections’ permissions determine what it can read or do. OpenAI also notes that Slack channel restrictions do not restrict direct messages. This describes @ChatGPT’s setup, not every agent. See Setting up and managing @ChatGPT in Slack and Microsoft Teams.

Use a complete offboarding sequence
- Identify the platform, agent or app name, workspace or tenant, and specific group conversation.
- Remove the agent from the conversation using that platform’s supported control.
- If access must end beyond the conversation, identify and revoke the relevant token, OAuth authorization, service account, or connected account through the platform or identity administrator’s controls.
- If the app is installed at workspace or organization level, uninstall or remove it there too; involve an administrator where required.
- Verify the intended result: the agent is absent from the conversation, cannot post or be invoked there, and no separate connected credential remains authorized.
