To delete a Chrome bookmark that syncs to your Google Account, use Chrome on a desktop computer while signed in to the account associated with that bookmark. Open Bookmark Manager, locate the exact item, then choose More > Delete. Google warns that a deleted bookmark cannot be recovered through this feature, so check the bookmark title before deleting it.
What deleting a synced bookmark does
When you’re signed in to Chrome, bookmarks can be saved to your Google Account and accessed on devices signed in to that account. Google’s help pages describe account-based access and the desktop deletion control; together, they indicate that you should delete the bookmark in Chrome while signed in to the account associated with it. Google does not specify how quickly a deletion appears on other devices.

This action is for bookmarks only. Passwords and browsing history are separate categories of saved or synced information, and deleting a bookmark does not remove them.
Delete one synced bookmark on a desktop computer
Using Bookmark Manager
- Open Chrome on the computer where you’re signed in to the Google Account associated with the bookmark.
- Select More (the three-dot menu) > Bookmarks and lists > Bookmark Manager.
- Find the bookmark you want to remove. Check its title so you don’t select a neighboring item by mistake.
- Open More for that bookmark and choose Delete.
Using the bookmarks navigation panel
- In Chrome, select More > Bookmarks and lists > Show all bookmarks.
- Hover over the specific bookmark or folder you intend to remove.
- Open its More menu and choose Delete.
These desktop steps are documented in Google’s Chrome bookmark help. The deletion control is part of Chrome; no physical product is needed.

Before deleting a bookmark or folder
- Verify the selection. Confirm the bookmark’s title or the folder name before choosing Delete.
- Know the recovery limit. Google warns: “After you delete a bookmark, you can’t get it back.” The documented feature does not provide a way to recover it.
- Keep a copy if you may need one. Google mentions exporting bookmarks in its account and sync help. Exporting can preserve a copy, but it does not automatically restore a bookmark after deletion.
For account-based bookmark access and sync settings, see Google’s help for Chrome on computers.
What Android users should know
Google’s Android help says you can find bookmarks from Chrome’s More menu > Bookmarks and manage account settings for choosing what information to save and sync. The cited guidance does not establish a specific Android bookmark-deletion sequence, so don’t assume the desktop menus apply. Check the controls shown in your current Chrome app or follow Android-specific instructions verified for your version. See Google’s Chrome help for Android.

If the bookmark is still visible on another device
Google’s cited help explains that bookmarks can be accessible on devices signed in to the same account, but it does not state a deletion propagation time. Confirm that Chrome on the device is signed in to the Google Account associated with the bookmark, then check again. The documented sources do not establish a guaranteed timing or a separate recovery method for a bookmark that remains visible.
