Voicemail service itself is controlled by your carrier.
Listen to new messages first
Open voicemail from the notification or the Phone app and listen to all new messages. Samsung says the notification should normally disappear once new messages have been heard. Voicemail access and setup are provided through your network provider.

Clear a stale voicemail notification
Samsung UK’s documented fix is to clear cache and data for the system Call settings app. Menu names and locations can vary with Galaxy software and carrier configuration; use the closest matching labels on your phone.
- Open Settings.
- Tap Apps.
- Open the sort or filter control and turn on Show system apps.
- Select Call settings, then tap Storage.
- Tap Clear cache.
- Before choosing Clear data, note that Samsung warns this resets the phone app and removes recent calls. Samsung says it does not remove contacts. Tap Clear data only if you are comfortable with that consequence.
If the notification remains, Samsung recommends repeating the process for the Phone app.

Change how voicemail notifications appear
If you want to quiet or restyle the alert rather than clear its unread state, Samsung documents this path: Phone > More options (three dots) > Settings > Voicemail > Notifications.
Depending on the options shown on your device, you can choose Alert or Silent, select a sound when Alert is enabled, and adjust pop-up, vibration, and lock-screen display settings. These controls change notification presentation; they do not necessarily remove a carrier-side unread-message indicator or turn off the mailbox.

Contact your carrier if the alert persists or you want voicemail stopped
Samsung UK states that voicemail services are controlled by the network provider. If the indicator remains after you have checked new messages and tried the phone-side steps, ask your carrier to check the voicemail account and message status. To deactivate voicemail service, contact the carrier as well; changing settings on the handset cannot guarantee that the service is disabled.
Call-forwarding options may be available in Phone settings on some devices, but carrier support and behavior vary. Samsung US notes that call and voicemail options depend on the carrier, so check with yours before relying on call forwarding as a replacement for voicemail.

Why the steps may look different
Samsung’s UK guidance is the direct source for the cache-and-data troubleshooting steps. Samsung US and Google Phone Help also indicate that voicemail options and settings can vary by carrier and device configuration. As a result, the exact labels or available controls on your Galaxy may not match the paths above exactly.
