You can remove a saved card through PlayStation Account Management, your PS5 or PS4, or the PlayStation App. The change applies across devices linked to the account, but it does not cancel active subscriptions.
Remove a card in a web browser
- Sign in to PlayStation Account Management.
- Select Payment Method.
- If prompted, select Add Payment Method, then choose the saved card you want to remove.
- Select Remove and confirm if asked.
Sony notes that wording and available payment methods can vary by region. If your account page looks different, use the PlayStation support page for your country or region.

Remove a card on PS5
- Go to Settings > Users and Accounts > Account > Payment and Subscriptions > Payment Methods.
- Select the saved card.
- Press the options button on the controller and select Remove.
Remove a card on PS4
- Open PlayStation Store.
- Scroll to the bottom of the sidebar and select Payment Methods.
- Choose the saved card and select Delete.
Remove a card in the PlayStation App
- Select the PlayStation Store icon at the bottom of the app.
- Open the menu in the top-right corner and choose Payment Methods.
- Select the saved card, then choose Remove.
Removing payment details on one device also removes them from devices linked to the same account.
Removing a card does not cancel subscriptions
PlayStation Support states: “Removing payment methods will not cancel the active subscriptions on your account.” If you want to stop recurring charges, cancel each relevant subscription separately through your account. Removing the card alone is not a substitute for cancellation.

If PlayStation will not let you remove or update the card
Sony’s US troubleshooting guidance describes a specific security block that can occur after payment information has been updated too often in a short period. For that particular error, Sony says to wait 24 hours before trying again; any attempt during the wait starts another 24-hour block. The guidance also suggests using another payment method or a PlayStation Store wallet top-up code during the wait. This is not a general wait time for every payment-removal problem; follow the support instructions for the error shown on your account.
Still want to buy games without saving a card?
Sony documents PlayStation Store gift cards as an optional way to add funds to your account wallet. Availability and compatibility depend on your region. You do not need a gift card—or another payment method—to remove a saved card.
