To remove a Content ID-claimed song from an archived YouTube livestream, open the video in YouTube Studio, view the claim details, choose Take action, and apply an edit that removes or fully covers every claimed part. You can erase the song, mute all sound in the claimed segments, replace the song with YouTube Audio Library music, or trim out the affected segment. Back up the video first: YouTube says saved Studio Editor changes cannot be reverted starting in June 2025.
First, check that this is an archived-video claim
This guide is for a Content ID claim on a livestream recording that is already archived. YouTube scans live streams for third-party material and may interrupt or terminate a stream if detected material continues. A Content ID claim on an archived livestream is made after the stream is complete, if the creator archives it. YouTube’s guidance on live-stream copyright distinguishes these situations.

If the stream is currently live and YouTube is warning about third-party content, editing the archive is not a fix for the live interruption. Address the live-stream warning; use the steps below for the completed recording and its claim notice.

Remove the claim in YouTube Studio
- Open the archived video. In YouTube Studio, select the video with the Content ID claim notice.
- Open the claim details. Select the notice, then choose View details.
- Choose an edit. Under the relevant claim, select Take action and choose the least disruptive option that completely removes the claimed material. The available actions are described in YouTube’s instructions for removing claimed content from videos.
- Preview and adjust. Check the player and the claim’s start and end times. Make sure the chosen edit covers the entire claimed interval and every occurrence of the claimed material.
- Save and wait for processing. Studio shows an editing-in-progress status and an estimated time. You cannot make other edits to the video while processing.
- Verify the result. When processing finishes, reload the video list and check that the edit applied and the claim is gone. If it remains, review the claim details and use a more complete edit.
Choose the right edit for the claimed song
| Studio action | What it changes | Trade-off and when to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Erase song | Attempts to mute only the claimed song. | Best when you want to preserve dialogue, effects, or other audio. It can fail if YouTube cannot isolate the song cleanly. |
| Mute all sound in the claimed segments | Mutes all audio in the affected interval. | Removes more of the soundtrack, but YouTube says this is usually faster and more likely to clear the claim. |
| Replace song | Replaces claimed audio with one or more tracks from the YouTube Audio Library. | Available for audio claims. The replacement must cover the full claimed interval; otherwise the claim will remain. |
| Trim out segment | Removes the claimed video segment, including its audio. | Use this if removing the whole section is acceptable. Any claimed content left behind can prevent the claim from clearing. |
These options and their limitations are documented in YouTube’s claim-editing guidance. The fix clears a claim only when the claimed material is fully removed or covered.

Handle repeated songs in a livestream loop
A song may appear more than once in a long or looping recording. Check every claim timestamp in the details and make sure the edit covers each claimed occurrence. For example, muting one interval will not address a later repetition outside that interval. YouTube requires all claimed material to be removed for the claim to clear; after processing, check the claim status rather than assuming one edit handled every repeat.
Back up before saving
Download a copy of the video or use Google Takeout before editing. YouTube’s Studio Editor guidance notes that, starting in June 2025, saved edits cannot be reverted with “Revert to original.” Preview the entire affected section before saving, especially if you are trimming video or replacing audio. See YouTube’s editing guidance and its instructions for downloading your own videos.

If the claim seems mistaken
An unfamiliar claimant does not by itself mean the claim is invalid. Dispute it only if you are confident you have all necessary rights to the material. YouTube does not mediate copyright disputes, and an unsupported dispute can lead the rights holder to request removal. If the song is validly claimed, edit it out or leave the claim rather than disputing without a rights basis. Read YouTube’s guidance on disputing a Content ID claim.

Troubleshooting: the claim is still there
- Only part of the song was muted or replaced: Reopen the claim details and extend the edit to cover the full claimed interval.
- The song repeats elsewhere in the loop: Check the other claim timestamps and edit each claimed occurrence that remains.
- Erase song did not clear the claim: YouTube suggests muting all sound in the claimed segments or trimming them out.
- Studio is still processing: Wait for the in-progress state to finish, then reload and check the claim. Other edits are unavailable while processing.
- The video or soundtrack is no longer as intended: A saved edit cannot be reverted in Studio under the policy effective from June 2025. Use the backup you made before editing.
Or let it run in the cloud
For future pre-recorded YouTube livestream loops, StreamNeo is a cloud service that loops uploaded videos on YouTube; it does not go live from a camera. Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it streams your uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and it automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month. A cloud loop does not change copyright rules, so use content you have rights to stream.
