Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteTo request a refund for a PlayStation Store game bought by mistake, check the rules for the country linked to your PlayStation account, then use PlayStation’s official refund support page to check eligibility and submit a request. PlayStation’s Ireland guidance says a game or DLC request generally must be made within 14 days of purchase, and the content must not have been downloaded or streamed. Faulty content is an exception; approval is not guaranteed.
Check whether the game meets the refund conditions
The standard game and DLC conditions below come from PlayStation’s Ireland support guidance, so they should not be treated as a universal policy. PlayStation’s UK cancellation policy also says started downloads or streams are ineligible unless the content is faulty. Check the policy for the country associated with your account, since rules and procedures may differ and local law may provide additional rights.

- Timing: PlayStation’s Ireland guidance requires the request within 14 days of purchase.
- Download or stream: The content must not have been downloaded or streamed. Check whether a download began automatically as well as whether you started it yourself.
- Faulty content: PlayStation’s published guidance describes faulty content as an exception to the download/stream restriction. That does not guarantee that a particular request will be accepted.
Submit the refund request
- Identify the purchase and its date, and check whether the game has been downloaded or streamed.
- Open PlayStation’s refund support page. Use the eligibility check and follow the instructions there to request a refund.
- If the self-service process does not resolve the issue, contact PlayStation Support through the official support route.
What if the game has already downloaded?
A download or stream that has started can make a standard game refund ineligible under PlayStation’s published rules, even if the purchase was accidental. The UK policy states that games or add-ons whose download or streaming has started are not eligible unless faulty; the Ireland support checklist similarly requires that content has not been downloaded or streamed. If the game is faulty, explain the problem when contacting support rather than assuming the exception guarantees a refund.
Check the purchase type before applying the game rules
PlayStation publishes different conditions for different purchases. The standard game checklist does not automatically apply to consumables, subscriptions, or pre-orders.

| Purchase type | Published condition in the cited guidance | Source scope |
|---|---|---|
| Game or DLC | Request within 14 days; content must not have been downloaded or streamed, subject to the faulty-content exception. | PlayStation Ireland support guidance; UK policy corroborates the download/stream restriction. |
| In-game consumable | The game must not have been launched after purchase. Consumables purchased during gameplay may be delivered immediately. | PlayStation Ireland support guidance. |
| Subscription | Request a refund of the initial payment within 14 days of signing up; the refund may be reduced to account for use. A free-trial period counts toward the 14 days. | PlayStation Ireland support guidance. |
| Pre-order | Under PlayStation’s US guidance, a request may be made before release, or within 14 days of purchase if the release date has passed, provided the main content has not started downloading or streaming. Automatic downloads may occur if enabled. | PlayStation US pre-order guidance; these are pre-order rules, not the ordinary post-release game checklist. |
Use the policy for your account’s country
The 14-day game and DLC checklist in this article is specifically from PlayStation’s Ireland support page. For an account registered elsewhere, consult the local refund support page and cancellation policy before relying on those conditions. PlayStation’s UK policy and US pre-order page illustrate that published rules are region- and purchase-specific; applicable local rights may also affect the outcome.
