Start with the horror game’s own accessibility or camera settings: lower or disable camera shake and sway, reduce motion blur, and soften cinematic effects if the game offers them. A persistent centre dot may provide a steadier visual reference. You can also try PS5’s system-level Reduce Motion setting at Settings > Accessibility > Display and Sound. Options differ by title, and no setting is guaranteed to help everyone. If symptoms begin, stop playing.
Adjust the game’s camera and visual effects first
Open the game’s accessibility, camera, or display settings and look for controls that change how the view moves. Games expose different combinations, so use the options that are actually available rather than searching for one universal preset.

- Camera shake and sway: Lower or turn off sudden shake and slower handheld-style movement where possible. Some games separate camera shake from ambient sway.
- Motion blur: Reduce it with a slider or disable it if the game provides a toggle.
- Cinematic effects: Look for cinematic smoothing or settings that disable pronounced zooms and other camera effects.
- Centre dot: Try a persistent dot or reticle if available. It can give your eyes a stable reference, but it is not guaranteed to help.
- Camera distance and field of view: Adjust these only if the game offers them. There is no universally correct value, and wider field of view is not automatically better for every player.
Change one option at a time and test briefly, so you can tell which changes feel more comfortable. This is a practical way to personalize settings, not a clinically validated sequence.

Try PS5’s Reduce Motion setting
On the console, go to Settings > Accessibility > Display and Sound and turn on Reduce Motion. PlayStation describes it as reducing motion effects and screen movement. It is a system setting, not a replacement for the controls inside each game; check the game’s own options as well. PlayStation’s PS5 accessibility settings guide documents the setting and its menu path.

Check what the specific game supports
Before starting a title, its PlayStation Store game hub can show accessibility features. Treat that information as a starting point: check the actual in-game menus because the available controls vary. PlayStation explains where to find accessibility information for games.
Examples of motion controls in other games
Official accessibility pages for The Last of Us Part II and God of War Ragnarök describe several relevant options. The Last of Us Part II documents camera shake, motion blur, field of view, camera distance, a persistent centre dot, and a toggle for its dolly zoom effect. God of War Ragnarök documents a motion reduction preset with camera sway and shake, cinematic smoothing, motion blur, film grain, and a persistent dot. These are examples of controls to look for—not horror-game recommendations or proof that another title offers the same settings.

Resident Evil 4 has context-specific options
Capcom’s Resident Evil 4 PS5 online manual, accessed in Brazilian Portuguese, documents a motion-sickness preset. Its VR settings describe tunneling as a way to reduce motion sickness and say its effectiveness varies by player. The manual also says changing perspective between first- and third-person views in some sequences may help. These references concern the modes or sequences described in the manual; they do not establish that every standard-screen horror game has those controls.
