To reduce lag on Amazon Luna, first stabilize the connection: use Ethernet if practical, or try 5 GHz Wi-Fi near the router; then pause competing downloads and streams, disable VPNs or proxies, and check the device settings. Amazon’s minimum for 1080p is a sustained 10 Mbps—not a guarantee of low latency or uninterrupted play.
Why Luna can lag even when your internet seems fast
Luna runs games remotely and streams their audio and video to your device. That means both the network path and the device playing the stream can affect how responsive and smooth it feels. Amazon’s service terms also say stream resolution, quality, and latency depend on factors including device, location, network connection, bandwidth, and subscription status; Amazon may adjust stream quality to help avoid interruptions and does not guarantee a particular resolution or quality. Amazon sets a sustained minimum of 10 Mbps for 1080p streaming. It is a minimum requirement, not a latency target. If Luna reports “Network issues detected,” Amazon says the connection may be fluctuating and unable to sustain 10 Mbps consistently. A single speed test can show a fast moment without proving the connection will remain stable throughout a game.

Work through network fixes first
1. Try Ethernet, or improve the Wi-Fi connection
Amazon recommends using a wired network. If your Luna device has an Ethernet port or supports a compatible adapter, connect it to the router and compare play. A compatible Ethernet cable is an optional way to make that connection; Amazon does not specify a cable category, and a cable cannot fix every cause of lag. Amazon’s minimum streaming requirements provide the wired-network recommendation.

If you use a dual-band Wi-Fi router, Amazon recommends trying 5 GHz first. If problems persist, its troubleshooting guidance also suggests trying a different band and moving closer to the router. Which band works best depends on the home layout and signal conditions; there is no universal guarantee that 5 GHz will be better in every room.
2. Reduce other network traffic
Pause or schedule large downloads, backups, video streams, and other bandwidth-heavy activity while playing. Close bandwidth-heavy apps on the device running Luna. These steps reduce competition for the connection, though they cannot address every source of network fluctuation.

3. Turn off VPNs and proxies; use Wi-Fi on Apple mobile devices
Disable a VPN or proxy while streaming. Amazon warns these can increase latency or block gameplay. If you play on an iPhone or iPad, Amazon recommends Wi-Fi rather than cellular. Amazon’s troubleshooting guidance covers these connection steps.
Check settings on the device playing Luna
- Keep software current: Amazon recommends using the latest operating system, app, or browser available for your device.
- Windows PC or Mac using Chrome: Make sure Chrome hardware acceleration is enabled.
- Fire TV: Turn on Game Mode in the TV’s settings.
- Mac or Fire Tablet with quality problems: Amazon’s device guidance recommends turning off Location Services while playing as a targeted workaround. This is not a general setting recommendation for every Luna device.

Tell stream trouble apart from controller delay
Look at what is actually delayed. Buffering, choppy video, or a “Network issues detected” warning points toward stream or connection trouble. If the picture stays smooth but controls feel slow to respond, controller connection may be worth checking. This distinction is a practical diagnostic, not a formal Amazon test.
Amazon lists Cloud Direct, Bluetooth, and USB-C as Luna Controller connection options and says Cloud Direct reduces latency on listed compatible devices. That guidance concerns controller input; it does not establish that buying a Luna Controller will solve video stutter, network warnings, or every kind of lag. Choose between Ethernet and Wi-Fi based on your setup
