Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallCrashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteStart by finding which builds and projects are using your Chromatic allowance. Then, if your setup is eligible, enable TurboSnap with --only-changed (or the GitHub Action’s onlyChanged: true). Review redundant CI runs and test-matrix combinations next; exclude stories only when you accept losing their visual coverage. Chromatic’s public documentation states that its free plan includes 5,000 snapshots per month, shared across projects in an account.
Find what is consuming snapshots first
Chromatic usage is aggregated across projects in an account, so a student project may share its allowance with other projects. Check the account’s Billing page and open the current usage report and Trends before changing configuration.

- Use the usage report to inspect build-level usage and the mix of visual, accessibility, and TurboSnap snapshots. The report can be exported.
- Use Trends to compare build volume, snapshots per build, and average billed snapshots over time.
- Check each project’s contribution and look for changes in build frequency or test configuration.
This baseline helps distinguish frequent builds from expensive individual builds. Chromatic’s billing documentation describes visual and accessibility snapshots as billable; interaction tests do not incur billed snapshots. See Chromatic’s billing documentation and usage reports.

TurboSnap is Chromatic’s main documented way to reduce billed snapshots while retaining testing for affected stories. It uses Git changes and the Webpack or Vite dependency graph to identify stories affected by a change. A captured snapshot costs 1 billed snapshot; an unaffected snapshot copied from a baseline costs 0.2; a qualifying build that bypasses snapshots costs 0. Actual savings depend on what changed and whether Chromatic can accurately map changed files to stories. See Chromatic’s TurboSnap documentation.

Check prerequisites and eligibility
Chromatic says TurboSnap unlocks after ten successful CI builds. Its documented requirements include Chromatic CLI 10.0 or later, Storybook 6.5 or later or Vitest 4 or later, Git 2.28.0 or later, a Webpack- or Vite-based setup, correctly configured stories, and enabled UI Tests. Check Chromatic’s current TurboSnap setup guide for the complete, current setup details.
Configure the CLI or GitHub Action
For the CLI, use the documented option:
chromatic --only-changed
For Chromatic’s GitHub Action, set onlyChanged: true in the action configuration. Keep the option in the existing CI invocation rather than adding a second run that duplicates the same build.

- Portability: Controls are improved while maintaining the pursuit of portability.
Validate the configuration against the project’s actual file layout. In particular, review monorepo paths, prebuilt Storybooks, static directories, and files that affect stories but are outside the normal dependency graph. Missing or incorrect dependency information can prevent affected stories from being detected. Inspect TurboSnap’s reported bail reasons and confirm that representative changes to shared styles, components, and assets trigger the stories they should.

Reduce unnecessary CI runs without losing needed review
Build volume is one driver of snapshot usage. Review branch-push, pull-request, and merge triggers for duplicated runs that do not provide useful review. Consolidating redundant triggers may reduce usage, but skipping an event also means no Chromatic run and no review for that event. Keep runs that protect important changes.

- With embedded Yashica 400 Asa 35 mm negative film for street snaps.

Chromatic usage can also vary with the number of builds, tests, browsers, modes, and visual or accessibility test types. Check whether every browser and mode combination still serves a project requirement. There is no universal savings estimate: results depend on the project’s build frequency, changed dependency share, test matrix, and configuration.
Exclude snapshots only when losing coverage is intentional
Chromatic provides ways to avoid capturing snapshots for selected stories, but these choices differ from excluding regions from comparison:

Know what happens when the free allowance runs out
Chromatic’s public free-plan FAQ states an allowance of 5,000 snapshots per month. Its billing documentation says the allowance is shared across projects in an account. Once it is exhausted, testing and review pause until the allowance resets; upgrading resumes them immediately. These are Chromatic’s published plan terms, accessed in 2026, and may change. See Chromatic’s free-plan FAQ.

If the job is capturing website screenshots rather than reducing Storybook test snapshots, ScreenshotNeo is a screenshot API and MCP server. One GET request can return an image or PDF. For example, the cURL request below saves a WebP screenshot:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

Quick Recap
See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for setup and options. It accepts consent banners like a visitor and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; these steps can be disabled. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and responses identify the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server provides screenshot tools for AI agents. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots monthly with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots. Sign up for the free plan.
