You can reduce—but not reliably eliminate—AI-generated posts in your social feeds. TikTok and Pinterest have announced or rolled out controls aimed specifically at seeing less AI content, though availability can vary. Elsewhere, use recommendation feedback, mutes, and following-only views where available. Labels can help identify some AI content, but they are not the same as filters.
Start with a feed preference, if your platform offers one
Look for a control that explicitly changes how much AI-generated content appears. Its availability and effect differ by platform: a preference may tune recommendations without hiding every matching post. Menu names and rollouts can also vary by account, region, and app version.

TikTok: check Manage topics
- In the mobile app, open Settings → Content Preferences → Manage topics. Look for an AI-generated-content option. TikTok announced a test of this setting for its For You feed; it may not be available to every account. The Associated Press reported in January 2026 that the test was not available through TikTok’s desktop browser interface. Associated Press guide.
- If the option appears, adjust it to see less AI-generated content. TikTok describes the control as a way to tailor the range of content, not remove or replace AI posts entirely. It sits alongside customizable keyword filters and the “not interested” button. TikTok Newsroom.
- You can also try the in-feed route: Share → Why this video → Adjust your For You → Manage topics. This route and its labels may change as the app is updated.
TikTok says it requires labels for realistic AI-generated content and uses creator tools, detection models, and C2PA Content Credentials. It reported that more than 1.3 billion videos had been labeled by 2025; that is TikTok’s cumulative labeling figure, not a count of all AI-generated videos or a measure of how much AI content appears in feeds. TikTok also warns that labels may be lost when content is reuploaded or edited elsewhere.

The Associated Press reported that Pinterest had rolled out a GenAI interests tuner at Settings → Refine your recommendations. It lets users choose categories in which they would like to see less AI content, with examples including art, beauty, fashion, home décor, entertainment, health, and food and drink. Check the app for the current menu name and whether the control is available to you. Associated Press guide.

Use feedback and mutes when there is no AI-specific filter
X: train recommendations and narrow what you see
X’s cited help documentation does not describe a dedicated AI-content filter. Its controls let you influence recommendations or mute specific terms and accounts:
- Switch to Following when you want posts from accounts you follow rather than the broader recommendations included in For You.
- On a For You post, choose “Not interested in this post” or “Not interested in this Topic.” X says this feedback is used as a signal to recommend less of that type of content.
- Mute recurring words, phrases, usernames, emojis, or hashtags that identify unwanted posts. X documents word mutes as applying to notifications and the Home timeline, so do not assume they suppress every mention everywhere on the service.
- Mute or unfollow repeat-publishing accounts if the source, rather than a particular phrase, is the problem.
Word mutes are blunt: muting “AI,” for example, may also hide human commentary or AI-assisted posts you still want to see. Start with distinctive recurring phrases or hashtags, then adjust if the mute catches too much. X Help: About your X timeline.

Know what platform labels do—and do not—tell you
A label is an information signal, not necessarily a visibility control. Platforms rely on creator disclosure, technical indicators, or both, and their detection approaches do not establish that every generated post will be identified.

- YouTube: YouTube says it places labels more prominently for photorealistic and meaningfully AI-altered or generated content—below long-form video players and over Shorts. Disclosure for unrealistic, animated, or slightly altered content may appear in the expanded description. The company said it began rolling out internal signals in May 2026 to identify significant photorealistic AI use and automatically label some videos when creators had not disclosed it. - TikTok: TikTok’s labels and detection can miss content when indicators are lost through reuploading or editing. Its own description of the preference makes clear that lowering the amount in recommendations is not the same as filtering every post.
AI-assisted editing is not always the same as content generated by AI. YouTube’s cited policy focuses on photorealistic and meaningfully altered or generated content, while Meta says its labels reflect the extent of AI use; neither description supports treating every use of an AI tool as equivalent.

Expect imperfect coverage, not a clean switch
There is no universal AI-content block documented across these platforms. Detection depends on available signals and disclosure, and TikTok specifically notes that signals can disappear when material is edited or reuploaded. A labeled-post total also cannot tell you what share of your feed is AI-generated. No directly comparable cross-platform estimate of that share is established here.
For Meta, its 2024 public-opinion research found that 82% of respondents favored warning labels for AI-generated content depicting people saying things they did not say. Meta reported more than 23,000 respondents across 13 countries. That finding concerns labels for a specific kind of depiction; it should not be read as evidence that users want a feed-wide AI filter.
