Use YouTube’s Live Redirect feature: in YouTube Studio, open the source stream’s settings, choose a Premiere or eligible livestream, then end the source stream to send viewers to that destination. The sending channel needs more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes; a different channel must also allow the redirect.
Set up Live Redirect in YouTube Studio
- In YouTube Studio, go to Content > Live and open the source livestream.
- Select Edit > Customization > Redirect > Add.
- Choose a Premiere or search for an eligible livestream from another channel. For another channel’s stream, that channel must have given yours permission to redirect viewers to its content.
- When you end the source livestream, review the confirmation that viewers will be redirected and confirm. YouTube sends viewers to the selected destination after the source stream ends. Menu labels may change over time.
Check eligibility and destination permissions
Requirements for the sending channel
YouTube Help states that the sending channel must have more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes. This is the sender eligibility threshold in YouTube’s current Help documentation, not a requirement for the destination channel to have a particular subscriber count.

Allow redirects on the destination channel
The recipient channel controls who may redirect viewers to its content. Its owner can allow channels it subscribes to, allow all channels, or manually approve specific channels. YouTube Help says allowing subscribed channels is the default unless subscriptions are private. A manual allowlist can contain up to 100 channels. The all-channels option cannot be combined with the subscribed-channel or manual-list options.
To redirect viewers to another channel’s live stream, that channel must give permission in YouTube Studio. A channel of any size may receive a Live Redirect, according to TeamYouTube; the more-than-1,000-subscriber rule applies to the sender.

Choose the right destination and prepare viewers
Your own Premiere
A Premiere works well as a planned follow-on event, such as a scheduled video, announcement, or post-show discussion. YouTube recommends setting up the Premiere before the source livestream so it is ready when the handoff happens.
Another channel’s livestream
This is useful for handing an audience to a collaborator or related event. The destination channel must permit your channel, and its livestream must be available to select. Coordinate with the destination creator so the stream is live and ready when your broadcast ends.

Tell viewers what to expect
Live Redirect is an end-of-stream handoff, not an immediate midstream switch. YouTube describes autoplay moving viewers to the selected Premiere or livestream, but viewers who have autoplay turned off may need to click play. Tell viewers where they are going and ask them to wait a few seconds after your stream ends while the screen reloads. A pinned message in the Premiere’s live chat can point viewers to the event.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

YouTube documents Live Redirect for a Premiere or another channel’s livestream; the cited instructions do not describe redirecting to an arbitrary URL or a non-YouTube platform. YouTube’s live-stream feature comparison lists Live Redirect as supported for horizontal livestreams and unavailable for vertical live feeds. If the handoff is essential, plan a horizontal broadcast.

Troubleshoot a missing destination or failed handoff
- The Add selector does not show the other channel’s stream: ask the destination owner to allow your channel, then check that the stream is available to select. The recipient’s permission settings determine whether your channel can redirect to it.
- Your channel cannot set up a redirect: check that it meets YouTube Help’s stated sender eligibility—more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes.
- Viewers remain on the source stream or do not continue automatically: confirm that the destination was selected and that you ended the source stream through the redirect confirmation. Some viewers have autoplay disabled and must click play.
- The expected option is unavailable for a vertical broadcast: YouTube’s feature comparison says Live Redirect is unavailable for vertical live feeds; use a horizontal stream if you need this handoff.
Or let it run in the cloud
Live Redirect handles a handoff at the end of a YouTube stream. If your separate goal is to keep uploaded videos looping as a 24/7 YouTube livestream, StreamNeo runs that stream from the cloud: upload a video or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it streams the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo plays uploaded videos and streams to YouTube, not from a camera. Learn about StreamNeo, or start the free day.
