To redeem a PlayStation Plus game trial, sign in to the PlayStation account you’ll use, find a title currently marked as a trial in the local PlayStation Store or Game Trials catalog, and follow the offer’s on-screen instructions. In the US, Game Trials are included with PlayStation Plus Premium, not Essential or Extra. Each trial is limited-time access to a selected game; the Store offer determines its duration. This is different from a free PlayStation Plus membership trial, which may renew into a paid subscription.

How do I redeem a PlayStation Plus game trial?

Sign in to the PlayStation account that will play the trial.
Open the current PlayStation Plus Game Trials catalog or search for the game in the PlayStation Store while signed in.
Check that the specific title is offered as a trial for your account and that your membership tier qualifies. Catalog availability can vary by game, region, and time.
Select the trial offer and follow the Store’s on-screen instructions to download or start the game. Button names and the exact flow can differ, so use the instructions shown for that title rather than expecting one universal procedure.
Check the individual offer for the trial’s time limit. Sony does not establish one fixed duration for all game trials.

Sony’s US PlayStation Plus tier comparison lists Game Trials under Premium. Confirm the current benefit and offer in your local Store; a title listed in another region or at an earlier date may not be available to your account.

How do I play a PS Plus trial?

Once the Store has made the trial available to your account, launch it as directed by the offer—either after downloading or through the start option presented there. Trial access is limited to the selected game and its stated time allowance. Sony’s Game Trials page describes Premium access as limited-time access to selected titles, and the catalog can change.

Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

Because the available titles are dynamic, search for the game you want rather than relying on an older list. Sony’s current trials page says that progress and trophies carry over if you decide to buy the game.

How long is the PS Plus game trial?

There is no single duration that applies to every PS Plus game trial. The time limit is specific to the title and should be shown in that game’s Store offer. Check it before starting; the official pages do not establish a universal number of hours.

Do I need Premium for game trials?

In Sony’s US tier comparison, Game Trials are a Premium benefit; Essential and Extra do not list them. The exact title must also be available as a trial in your region and for your account. Check the signed-in Store listing and local membership details before upgrading or assuming a particular game is included.

Is a game trial the same as a free PlayStation Plus membership trial?

No. A game trial lets an eligible member try a selected game for a limited time; it does not, by itself, start a new PlayStation Plus subscription. A free membership trial is a separate promotional subscription offer. Under Sony’s US PS Plus Usage Terms, that offer converts to a paid recurring subscription at the selected frequency unless canceled before the membership-trial period ends. The terms require a registered card or PayPal account for the US offer and limit eligibility to one free trial per person unless otherwise communicated. Availability and payment requirements can differ by country.
