Redeem a PlayStation Store Gift Card on PS5: Steps and Fixes

On PS5, open PlayStation Store, press Triangle, then choose … (More) > Redeem Code. Enter the card’s 12-digit voucher code and select Redeem. The funds or content go to the PlayStation account currently signed in.

Redeem the gift card on your PS5

Sign in to the PlayStation account that should receive the funds or content.
Open PlayStation Store from the PS5 home screen.
Press the Triangle button to open the Store menu.
Select … (More) > Redeem Code.
Enter the 12-digit code carefully, then select Redeem.
If the code unlocks a downloadable game or add-on, select Download to install it now, or download it later from the account’s library.

Know what kind of code you have

A PlayStation Store gift card adds money to the wallet of the account that redeems it. That balance can be used for Store purchases, but wallet funds cannot be refunded, according to PlayStation’s Canada wallet guidance.

12-digit voucher: Redeem it through the PS5 menu above. A gift card adds wallet funds; another voucher may grant a game, add-on, or subscription.
10-digit discount code: This is not a wallet voucher. Apply it during checkout rather than using Redeem Code.

Check the account and region before redeeming

Voucher codes can be used only once, and their value or content cannot be transferred to another account. Make sure the intended account is signed in before redeeming. The voucher’s country or region must also match the PlayStation account region; physical cards indicate their region. PlayStation says an account’s region cannot be changed after setup. Some vouchers show an expiry date. Certain subscription vouchers may also require a valid payment method on the account; check the voucher terms and PlayStation’s official redemption guidance.

For a child account

The family manager must redeem wallet top-up vouchers. The family manager can also set the child account’s monthly spending limit, as explained in PlayStation’s voucher support information.

Other ways to redeem a voucher

If you are not using the console, PlayStation also offers redemption through a web browser or the PlayStation App. Each option applies the voucher to the account used to redeem it.

If the code will not redeem

Re-enter the digits carefully. On a physical card, reveal and check every digit.
Check the printed expiry date, if there is one, and confirm the voucher region matches the account region.
Verify the code type: voucher codes have 12 digits; 10-digit discounts are used at checkout.
Check PlayStation Network service status. If there is no reported issue, sign out and back in to refresh the account.
Review the account’s transaction history to see whether the code was already redeemed. If it was not and the error continues, contact PlayStation Support.

If redeemed content is missing

Restart the console, then sign out and back in to the same account that redeemed the code. Check that account’s transaction history and library for the item. PlayStation’s voucher guidance includes these checks for content that does not appear.
