You may be able to restore a deleted voicemail if your carrier’s voicemail app has a Deleted Items or Trash folder, but there is no universal Samsung recovery feature. Check the app where you deleted it, then check your carrier voicemail and ask support whether a copy remains on your account. The result depends on the carrier, app, and whether the message was deleted or archived.
Can you recover a deleted voicemail on a Samsung Galaxy?
Sometimes. Samsung phones can use a carrier’s Visual Voicemail app, visual voicemail in the Phone app, or a dial-in voicemail service. These services do not all handle deletion the same way. For example, AT&T documents a restore option in its Android voicemail app, while Verizon says deleted messages in its Samsung Visual Voicemail service cannot be retrieved. Those are carrier-specific rules, not a general Samsung feature.

Samsung says voicemail is usually accessed through the Phone app, but setup and app names vary by carrier. Google also notes that visual voicemail in the Phone app is available only with selected carriers and in selected regions, and a carrier app can conflict with the Phone app’s visual voicemail feature. Where is the deleted voicemail folder?
Open the same voicemail app where you deleted the recording and inspect its folders and message options for labels such as Deleted Items, Trash, Restore, or Archive. Menu names and availability depend on the service; there is no single folder path that applies to every Galaxy.

AT&T Visual Voicemail
AT&T’s Android voicemail guide documents a Deleted Items folder where users can restore a message or permanently delete it. If you use the app and the message is still listed there, choose its restore action. Do not assume this folder exists in another carrier’s app. See AT&T’s Android voicemail guide.
Archive is different from delete
Verizon says archived messages are saved to the phone’s internal storage, while its Samsung Visual Voicemail guidance says deleted messages cannot be retrieved. If you selected Archive rather than Delete, check the app’s archive area and the phone’s saved files. Verizon’s guidance is specific to its service: Verizon Samsung Visual Voicemail instructions.

What to do if the message is not in the app
- Check the carrier mailbox. Use the normal voicemail route for your carrier, such as the voicemail option in the Phone app or the carrier’s own app. Avoid assuming a dial code works across carriers. Google says that turning off visual voicemail deletes recordings from the Phone app, but the carrier might still retain a copy.
- Contact carrier support promptly. Ask: “Does my carrier still have this voicemail in a deleted-message queue or on my account, and can you restore it for my phone and voicemail app?” Include when it was deleted and whether you chose Delete, Archive, or removed or reinstalled the app. Samsung directs voicemail questions to the carrier; its voicemail guidance explains the carrier-dependent setup.
- Search for a separately saved copy. If you previously archived or exported the recording, check the app’s archive and the phone’s files. A saved local copy is different from a recording that remains in the carrier’s voicemail system.
There is no retention period established across carriers. AT&T says recovery of deleted visual voicemail varies by smartphone, and T-Mobile says messages are automatically deleted after a specified time and cannot be retrieved; deletion in Visual Voicemail can sync to the voicemail system. Will Samsung Cloud, Google backup, or Smart Switch restore voicemail?
Do not count on a general phone backup to restore carrier voicemail audio. Samsung’s recovery instructions explain how to restore backed-up text messages through Samsung Messages, Google Messages, or Smart Switch; they do not establish that carrier voicemail recordings are included. A factory reset or general backup restore is not an established fix for deleted carrier voicemail and may complicate access to current data. First check the voicemail app, carrier mailbox, and any separate saved copy.

These differences mean the carrier’s instructions for your specific voicemail service take precedence over generic Android advice.
