On PS5 or Xbox Series X|S, check the cloud save linked to the account you used to play. Recovery depends on a usable local or cloud copy still existing; official guidance does not promise recovery if every copy has been deleted, overwritten, or corrupted.
Before you try to recover a save
Do not keep launching, saving, or switching devices while you are unsure which copy has the latest progress. First check the platform-specific options below. A newer local save on one device or an older cloud copy may be the only usable version left.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 uses one save slot: manual saves and autosaves share the same data. Capcom says not to exit the game or turn off the console while the save icon is visible. Saving is unavailable during an enemy battle.

Recover a save on Steam
If Steam shows a cloud-sync warning
- Do not choose “Play Game” just to dismiss the warning. Steam cautions that continuing before synchronization is resolved can create a conflict between local and cloud files, potentially losing progress.
- Resolve the underlying network or synchronization problem before launching Dragon’s Dogma 2 again.
- If progress is missing on a newer computer, check the older computer before starting or saving on the newer one. Steam says the older machine may still have a newer local save that can sync when Steam is launched there online.
Steam explains that offline play does not synchronize saves until the player returns online. Its guidance on lost files and progress after moving machines is at Steam Support: lost files or progress after moving to a different machine. Steam lists Dragon’s Dogma 2 as supporting Steam Cloud on its store page.

If the save is missing or corrupted
Capcom identifies Steam Cloud as the backup route for the Steam version, but does not provide an approved sequence for replacing local files manually. It also warns that locally created save backups are not guaranteed to work. Steam Support says it cannot recover lost saves or resolve cloud conflicts. Check cloud saves on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S
PlayStation 5
Capcom names PlayStation Plus cloud storage as the backup option for PS5 and says a PlayStation Plus membership is required to access it. Check whether a relevant cloud upload exists before downloading a copy or replacing local data. The FAQ does not guarantee that a usable earlier version exists or give a recovery sequence for a deleted or corrupted save. See Capcom’s Dragon’s Dogma 2 PS5 FAQ.

Xbox Series X|S
Capcom says saves may be backed up to Xbox service cloud servers and directs players to the console maker for details. Check the Xbox account you used to play and review the available local and cloud save state before continuing in a way that could replace the better copy. For platform-specific synchronization guidance, consult Xbox Support. Capcom’s FAQ does not give a detailed recovery procedure for an overwritten or corrupted save: Capcom’s Dragon’s Dogma 2 Xbox FAQ.

“Last Inn Rest” means the last time the Arisen rested at an inn or dwelling; camping does not update it. If you camped after your last inn rest and then load from that option, the game may return you to an earlier point without indicating that the campsite save is missing. Capcom documents this behavior in its Steam FAQ, PS5 FAQ, and Xbox FAQ.

If Dragon’s Dogma 2 appears not to save
- Check for combat: Capcom says saving is unavailable while fighting an enemy.
- Save manually: Open Pause Menu > System > Save.
- Allow the save to finish: Wait until the save icon disappears before exiting the game or powering down.
- Know when autosaves occur: The game autosaves when entering a new area or resting at an inn. Manual saves and autosaves use the same save data.
