How do I unsend a text message on Android?
There is no single guaranteed “unsend” action for every Android text. In Google Messages, the available choice depends on whether you want to correct the message or try to remove it, and on the message and recipient support.

| Correct a typo or wording | Edit | Available for 15 minutes after sending. Unsupported recipients may receive a separate correction instead of an edited original. Google Messages Help |

How to edit a sent message
- Open Google Messages and select the conversation.
- Touch and hold the message you sent.
- Tap Edit, revise the text, then tap the check mark to apply the change.
Google says the edit option expires 15 minutes after sending, whether or not the recipient has read or replied. When editing is supported, both sides see an “Edited” label. If the conversation uses SMS, or the recipient does not support editing, Google says the correction arrives as another message beginning with an asterisk; the original is not silently recalled. - Open the conversation in Google Messages.
- Touch and hold the sent message.
- Open the delete action and choose Delete for everyone, if it appears.
Choose Delete for me only if you want to remove the message from your own conversation history; it is distinct from the option intended for both sides. Google’s help lists these choices but does not specify how long Delete for everyone remains available. Act promptly, and do not assume deletion can undo anything the recipient has already read, copied, captured, or otherwise kept. Google Messages Help: Delete messages

Does recall work with RCS, SMS, or iPhone conversations?
RCS, SMS, and MMS do not behave identically. Google says its edit feature can apply to RCS, SMS, or MMS, but an SMS conversation or an unsupported recipient may receive the correction as a new asterisk-prefixed message. That is a correction, not recall of the original. Google Messages Help
RCS may also be available in one-to-one chats with iPhone users who have RCS enabled. Availability varies by region, carrier, and device, and a data plan may be required. Google Messages on Google Play

The GSMA RCS specification search-result summary indicates that recall is not supported when RCS is unavailable and the conversation falls back to SMS. This standards context does not establish how every current Google Messages or iPhone client handles deletion, so do not assume Delete for everyone works uniformly across devices or platforms. What to do if the option is missing
- If Edit is absent, the 15-minute window may have passed, or the message or conversation may not support the feature.
- If Delete for everyone is absent, the app is not offering that option for the selected message. Delete for me will not remove it from the recipient’s history.
- If you cannot remove the original, send a clear correction or ask the recipient to disregard it. For sensitive content, treat it as potentially seen or retained.
