Battery gauge lights are different from charger lights
The LEDs on the battery indicate its remaining-charge range. LEDs on a charger indicate what the charger is doing, such as evaluating or charging a pack. Do not use a charger’s light pattern as a battery charge-percentage chart.

What to do if your lights do not match
- Identify the battery model. Read the product label and note its model number and indicator layout.
- Check the battery manual. Look up the charge-indicator instructions for that exact model instead of assuming the PBP005 ranges apply.
- Identify the charger separately. If the lights are on the charger, use the charger’s manual and model-specific troubleshooting instructions.
- Use RYOBI support if the pattern remains unclear. Enter the product model on RYOBI’s support page to find manuals, parts, and repair information. RYOBI says the model number is usually near the top left of the product label.
An unfamiliar light pattern alone does not establish that a battery is defective or needs replacement. Follow the instructions for the identified battery and charger, and use the manufacturer’s troubleshooting or service route if the issue persists.

Does a low indicator mean the battery is faulty?
No. The gauge reports an approximate remaining-charge band; it does not, by itself, diagnose battery health. RYOBI describes the onboard fuel gauge on its 18V ONE+ 4Ah battery as a way to monitor remaining runtime. If you are considering a replacement, first confirm that the battery is actually faulty and check compatibility with your tool. RYOBI states that 18V ONE+ batteries are compatible with RYOBI 18V ONE+ tools.
