Start with The Complete Peanuts 1950–1952, then read the remaining volumes in ascending order by their printed year ranges. Fantagraphics describes the series as a chronological collection of Charles M. Schulz’s daily and Sunday newspaper strips, making it the most direct route through the complete syndicated run.
Where to start
Begin with The Complete Peanuts 1950–1952. It covers the strip from its launch in late 1950 through 1952. After that, move forward volume by volume, following the year spans printed on the books. Fantagraphics’ original project announcement says the opening book covers those first years and that each later volume covers two years.

Fantagraphics describes the collection as presenting the entire run in chronological order, with daily and Sunday strips included. That means you do not need to alternate between separate daily and Sunday collections to follow the newspaper strip’s publication sequence.
Choosing between the main collection and the color Sunday books
| Collection | What it covers | Order and appearance | Best use |
|---|---|---|---|
| The Complete Peanuts | Daily and Sunday newspaper strips | Chronological; the main volumes print Sunday strips in black and white | The complete publication-order reading route |
| Peanuts Every Sunday | Sunday strips only | Separate Sunday-focused series with restored and recolored pages | A companion for readers who want Sunday pages in color |
Peanuts Every Sunday does not replace The Complete Peanuts for a complete daily-and-Sunday sequence. The two series can overlap in their Sunday material, so treat the color books as a visual-format choice rather than the next step in the chronological run.

What to know about formats and availability
Formats and specifications can vary by edition. For example, Fantagraphics lists its 1981–1982 paperback edition of The Complete Peanuts as 344 pages, black and white, with ISBN 9781683964810. Those details describe that edition, not every printing in the series.
Fantagraphics’ product pages state regional limitations on direct ordering. Check the seller and the specific edition for availability in your country; a publisher’s direct-sales restriction does not establish what other retailers can sell or ship.

Sunday-series release information
Fantagraphics calls Peanuts Every Sunday 1996–2000 the final volume in that series and lists it at 264 pages, in full color, with an on-sale date of November 29, 2022. The publisher also lists Peanuts Every Sunday 1956–1960 as the second volume in its ten-volume softcover series, with an on-sale date of November 24, 2026. That is a scheduled date, not evidence that the book has already been released.
