Download a game file to a computer first, then transfer it to the TI-84 Plus CE with Texas Instruments’ free TI Connect CE software and a USB cable. Choose a file labeled for the CE, check its prerequisites, and keep the cable connected until the transfer finishes.
What you need before downloading a game
- A TI-84 Plus CE calculator and a computer running Windows or macOS.
- TI Connect CE, Texas Instruments’ software for connecting to TI-84 Plus family calculators and transferring files: TI Connect CE.
- A USB cable that can transfer data. TI says a mini-USB cable is provided with the calculator; a replacement is needed only if yours is missing or unusable. Check that any replacement has the correct connector and supports data transfer.
- A game file explicitly identified for the TI-84 Plus CE, plus any libraries or other prerequisites listed with it.
Choose a compatible game file
Browse the ticalc.org TI-84 Plus CE games archive and open the individual game page before downloading. Look for its calculator model, file type, readme, and any stated library or setup requirements. The archive separates files by category; its CE file index includes assembly, BASIC, Flash app, OS, Python, and variable categories.

Do not assume that every program described as a TI-84 game will work on the CE. Older calculator programs and compiled CE programs are not automatically interchangeable. Use the archive’s model labels and the game’s own notes to judge compatibility. BASIC and assembly/C games can also differ in setup, performance, and compatibility, so neither format is universally the better choice.
The archive listing showed 83 files in its CE assembly-games category on October 7, 2026; that is a count for that category on that date, not the total number of CE games. Its Pac-Man entry showed 217,873 downloads on the same date, a changing archive counter rather than a broad popularity measure.

Download the game to your computer
- Open the page for the CE-compatible game you want and read its description and instructions.
- Download the listed file or package to your computer.
- If the download is a ZIP package, extract it. Inspect the extracted files and readme rather than assuming every game uses the same file extension or transfer method.
- Note any required library files and the author’s launch instructions. Some games list library requirements; install or transfer prerequisites as their instructions specify.
Transfer the game with TI Connect CE
- Install or open TI Connect CE on your computer.
- Connect the calculator to the computer with the USB cable and wait for TI Connect CE to recognize it.
- Open Calculator Explorer. Drag the compatible game file from your computer into the connected calculator’s file list. If prompted, select the calculator filename and send the file. TI’s guidebook instructions for sending files describe this transfer process.
- Wait for the transfer to complete before disconnecting the USB cable. Texas Instruments warns: “Do not disconnect the cable during a transfer.”
Launch the game and handle prerequisites
Follow the game’s readme and on-calculator instructions to launch it. There is no single launch procedure established for every community-created game, so do not assume that transferring a file alone completes setup. If the game names a required library, use its instructions to install that library as well.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Do you need to update the calculator first?
Not necessarily. TI’s TI-84 Plus CE update page lists OS version 5.8.5 and explains its official OS/apps bundle process, but that is separate from downloading a community game and does not establish that every game requires an OS update. Check the game’s own compatibility notes before changing the calculator’s OS. If you choose to update, back up files first and follow TI’s instructions; do not disconnect during a transfer.

Common transfer problems
- The calculator is not recognized: Check the USB connection and try TI’s supplied cable or a known data-capable replacement. A charge-only cable will not transfer files.
- The file will not transfer or run: Recheck that the file is specifically for the TI-84 Plus CE, and confirm that you selected the correct file from any extracted package.
- The game opens with an error or does not start: Check its readme for required libraries, prerequisites, and its launch procedure. Requirements differ by game.
- The transfer is still in progress: Leave the cable connected until TI Connect CE reports completion.
