Pack the console so it cannot shift or take pressure
Nintendo warns that impacts can damage the console and that sharp objects or pressure can damage the display. Put the Switch 2 in a case designed for that console, rather than letting it move loose in a bag. Avoid packing it under heavy luggage or beside keys and other sharp items.

Before choosing a case, check that it fits the Switch 2 with Joy-Con 2 attached and that its interior and closure keep loose items away from the screen. If you want to carry cards, headphones, a charger, or straps in the same case, look for a separate pocket where they cannot press into the display. Do not assume a compact case has room for the dock or full-size accessories.
Choose a case by fit and layout, not unverified drop claims
Two manufacturer-listed options illustrate different storage approaches. Nintendo describes its Switch 2 Carrying Case & Screen Protector as including a screen protector and cleaning cloth. The Canadian Nintendo store describes the licensed PowerA Protection Case for Nintendo Switch 2 as having a molded, soft-lined interior, a padded screen protector, space for nine game cards and two microSD Express cards, and room for small accessories. These are manufacturer descriptions, not independent comparative tests.

The available product descriptions do not establish how these cases compare in drop protection, so choose based on fit, screen coverage, bulk, and useful storage rather than an unsupported strength ranking.
Prepare the Switch 2 before putting it away
- Power the console off. Nintendo’s carrying-case instructions say not to leave it switched on while stored in the case.
- Keep Joy-Con 2 attached. Nintendo’s case instructions specify that the controllers should remain attached during storage.
- Check the compartments. Keep cards and accessories in their intended pockets, away from the screen. Close the case without forcing it against anything inside.
Do not peel off the display’s antiscattering adhesive film. Nintendo says that film should remain in place; a separate screen protector is an optional extra layer, not a replacement for the film.

Keep heat, sun, moisture, and blocked vents in mind
Nintendo lists the Switch 2 operating temperature as 5–35°C (41–95°F). That is the operating range, not a stated safe-storage range. Avoid extreme heat or cold and extended direct sunlight; do not leave the console in a hot vehicle. Keep it dry, and leave its vents uncovered whenever you play or charge it.

When charging, use a compatible Nintendo-licensed AC adapter as Nintendo directs. Check add-on compatibility before packing older Switch gear: Nintendo marks several original Joy-Con accessories incompatible with Joy-Con 2, and older accessories should not be assumed to fit or work with the new system.

Add a screen protector carefully
A compatible protector can add a layer against scratches and debris, but Nintendo cautions that its case and protector do not fully protect the touchscreen from scratches or other damage. A protector cannot prevent every kind of damage, so continue to keep pressure and loose objects away from the screen.
If installing one, follow its instructions in a clean, dust-free place. Nintendo’s bundled-protector instructions call for cleaning the display, removing dust, aligning the protector, and smoothing out bubbles.

Clean safely after a trip
- Power off the console and unplug accessories before cleaning.
- Do not pour liquid onto the console or submerge it.
- Let the console dry completely before using it again.
