How do I protect my foldable phone screen?
The inner display is exposed whenever the phone is open and folds inward when it closes. The most useful protection is careful handling: prevent objects from being trapped between the screens, avoid hard pressure, and keep abrasive particles away.

Check the screen before closing
Before folding the phone, look for coins, keys, cards, grit, or other objects on the inner display. Samsung warns that an object caught between the displays can scratch or puncture the main screen. A case cannot reliably prevent damage caused by something trapped inside the phone. Samsung’s foldable care guidance and the Galaxy Z Fold6 user manual both caution against this risk.
Use a light touch
Tap and swipe with your finger rather than a fingernail, pen, or other hard or sharp object. Avoid pressing hard on the screen, especially around the crease. Fold and unfold the phone normally; do not force the hinge or bend the device backward. Samsung includes these precautions in its foldable-device guidance.

Should I remove the inner-screen protector?
No. If your foldable came with film fitted to the inner display, leave it in place unless the manufacturer’s instructions for your exact model say otherwise. Samsung says its installed protector is designed for folding and advises against removing it or applying unapproved films and stickers. If the film is damaged or needs replacement, consult the device maker’s instructions and authorized service options rather than peeling it off or fitting a generic replacement yourself. How should I protect the hinge from dust, sand, and water?
Keep grit away
Use the phone away from sand and other small particles where possible. Samsung says the foldables covered by its current US guidance are not dust resistant and warns that particles such as sand may damage the device. Avoid deliberately exposing the hinge or open phone to dusty environments.

Do not treat water resistance as beach or pool protection
Water-resistance ratings and conditions differ between models and generations. Samsung’s US page identifies certain IP48 foldables as water resistant under specified conditions, while also advising against beach or pool use; it says listed foldables are not dust resistant. Its Philippines page gives IPX8 conditions for the older generations it covers—up to 1.5 metres of fresh water for up to 30 minutes—but that is not a rating for every Fold or Flip model and does not mean dust is harmless. Check the support page and manual for your exact phone before relying on any rating: Samsung US care guidance and Samsung Philippines precautions.
Clean the hinge gently
If dust or dirt is visible around the hinge, Samsung advises gently wiping it with a soft, dry cloth. The guidance does not recommend inserting tools, applying liquids, using compressed air, or opening the hinge to clean it.

Does a case protect the inner screen and hinge?
A compatible case can add exterior protection, but do not assume it prevents inner-screen punctures, pressure damage, or hinge failure. Samsung recommends a protective case in its Fold6 business guidance and offers cases that depend on the device model. Choose a book-style foldable phone case made for your exact phone, then check whether its coverage and bulk suit your handling and pocket use and whether it leaves the buttons, ports, cameras, and wireless charging accessible.
The available guidance does not establish that hinge-cover cases are universally better than slim or rugged designs. Nor does it show that any case protects the inner display from debris trapped between the screens. The case’s role is exterior protection, not a substitute for checking the display before closing the phone. Samsung Business Insights recommends a case but does not establish a universally superior case style.

What does Samsung’s fold-count claim mean?
Samsung Business Insights wrote on August 2, 2024, that the Galaxy Z Fold6 “is tested and verified for at least 200,000 folds or 10 years of average use.” That is Samsung’s manufacturer test claim for the Fold6—not a guaranteed service life, independent testing, or a durability figure that can be applied to every foldable. It does not remove the need to follow the model’s care instructions.
