Before you connect: check the printer and connection
Look up the exact printer model in its manual or manufacturer support page. Confirm that it supports wireless printing and follow its instructions to connect it to Wi-Fi. Samsung says most printers need wireless configuration before wireless printing will work. A phone and printer on the same network can usually discover each other, but compatibility depends on the printer and its supported print service.

- Wi-Fi Direct: If both devices support it, they may connect directly without a router. Pairing steps vary by printer model; use its manual.
- USB: Some compatible Galaxy devices can connect to a USB printer with an OTG adapter and suitable USB cable. Check the phone’s port and the printer’s connection before choosing accessories.
Connect from a Samsung Galaxy phone or tablet
- Open the print-service settings. In Settings, search for Printing. Samsung’s instructions show the print services installed on the device.
- Enable a compatible service. Turn on Default Print Service if it supports your printer. If the printer requires a manufacturer-specific service, use Download plugin and select the one for that printer. Samsung notes, “Many printers may also work without downloading a plug-in,” so a separate plug-in is not always needed.
- Open the item you want to print. Use an app that supports printing, such as one displaying a document, email, photo, or web page.
- Open the print command. In the app, tap Share and then Print, or open the app’s More or options menu and choose Print. Tap Select printer and choose your Samsung printer. If it does not appear, use All printers to scan again.
- Set options and print. Choose available options such as paper size, color, or orientation, then tap Print. The options shown depend on the printer.
Menu wording can vary with the phone’s software and the app. Samsung’s current Galaxy printing instructions describe the general workflow.

Print from an iPhone or iPad
Apple-device printing requires a Samsung printer model that supports AirPrint. Connect the iPhone or iPad and printer to the same Wi-Fi network. In an app that supports printing, open Share or Actions, choose Print, select the AirPrint printer, adjust available options such as the number of copies, and print. Apple cautions that “Not all apps support printing.” Check the exact printer model’s documentation for AirPrint support and follow Apple’s AirPrint instructions.
If your phone can’t find the printer
- Make sure the printer is powered on and has completed wireless setup; consult its manual if you are unsure how to connect it to Wi-Fi.
- Confirm that the printer and phone are connected as required for the route you are using. AirPrint specifically requires the same Wi-Fi network; Wi-Fi Direct uses a direct connection only when both devices support it.
- On a Galaxy device, open the print dialog, tap Select printer, and try All printers to scan again.
- If the compatible print service offers it, choose Add printer and enter the printer’s IP address. You may need to find that address in the printer’s network settings or manual.
- For Wi-Fi Direct problems, Samsung recommends checking that both devices support and have the feature enabled, moving them closer together, restarting them, and updating their software. Refer to the printer manual for its pairing steps.
- If wireless setup still fails, ask the printer manufacturer for model-specific help.
Optional: connect a USB printer to a Galaxy device
Samsung documents a wired option for compatible Galaxy devices: “If you are using a USB printer, you can use an OTG adapter and appropriate USB cable to plug directly into your phone’s charging port.” This is not a universal connection method. Verify that the phone supports the required connection and that the adapter and cable match both devices before trying it.

Older Samsung materials describe mobile-printing apps and capabilities for selected products, but those documents date from 2013 and 2016. They do not establish current app availability or compatibility for a particular printer. For today’s setup, follow the phone’s current Printing settings and the support information for the exact printer model.
