The Motorola Razr 50 Ultra is a premium flip phone whose 4-inch outer display is useful enough to make the phone genuinely usable while closed. It pairs that standout screen with smooth inner-display performance, two 50 MP rear cameras—including a 2× telephoto—and generally well-regarded battery life. The tradeoffs are an inconsistent camera, no ultrawide lens and a software-support promise that is shorter than some leading rivals. It is a strong choice if the cover screen and compact folding design matter most; less compelling if camera versatility or long-term updates top your list.
What makes the Razr 50 Ultra different?
Its defining feature is the 4-inch cover display. At 1,272 × 1,080 resolution and 165 Hz, it is substantially more than a narrow strip for checking notifications: reviewers found it practical for a broader range of interactions and apps while the phone stays folded. That changes the central clamshell tradeoff—whether you have to open the phone for routine tasks—and is the clearest reason to choose this Razr. The phone launched as the Razr 50 Ultra in many markets and as the Razr+ (2024) in North America. Motorola describes the family and regional naming in its 2024 launch announcement. The independent reviews cited here tested the 2024 model and reflect their contemporary software, not a fresh test of its current condition or performance.

How well do the screen and performance hold up?
Displays and folded use
The large, high-refresh-rate outer screen is the practical headline, while the inner foldable display supplies the normal full-screen phone experience when opened. Reviewers praised the displays’ brightness and smoothness. App behavior on a foldable can still be uneven: some apps are not perfectly optimized for the form factor, so the cover screen’s usefulness depends partly on how a particular app handles its smaller layout.

Processor, memory and storage
The Razr 50 Ultra uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor with 12 GB of RAM. The reviewed top configuration had 512 GB of storage, and Expert Reviews says storage is not expandable. Motorola’s support specifications list the device’s processor, memory, storage and launch operating system. The cited reviews do not establish a quantified sustained-gaming result, so these specifications alone should not be taken as proof of how well it performs in long, demanding sessions.
Are the cameras good enough?
The rear camera system pairs a 50 MP main camera with a 50 MP 2× telephoto. That telephoto gives you a useful tighter framing option for portraits and nearby subjects without relying only on digital zoom. The inner selfie camera is 32 MP. Reviewers, however, reported inconsistent color and exposure, with weaker results in dim light; the camera hardware does not guarantee reliable results in every scene.

- AT&T Unlocked Model - Compatible with Most GSM and CDMA Carriers like T-Mobile, AT&T, MetroPCS, etc. Will Also work with CDMA Carriers Such as Verizon, Straight Talk.
There is no rear ultrawide camera. That is the key limitation if you often photograph wide landscapes, architecture or groups in tight spaces: you cannot switch to an ultrawide perspective, and stepping back is not always possible. The camera choice therefore favors closer framing and portraits over broad scene coverage. See the camera assessments from 91mobiles and Stuff.

The battery is rated at 4,000 mAh. Independent reviews list 45 W wired and 15 W wireless charging, and reviewers generally praised battery life, though actual endurance depends on brightness, network conditions, apps and how often you use either display. Motorola’s launch announcement also specifies 15 W wireless and 5 W reverse charging. Its battery capacity and announced charging features are in the manufacturer’s launch details; the broader battery assessment is covered by Gadgets 360.

How long is software support?
The phone launched with Android 14. Motorola promised three major Android version updates and four years of security patches, as reported by the 2024 reviews. That is a defined promise, but it is a shorter support story than some leading competitors offer, and reviewers also criticized update delivery. Motorola’s current security-update page says updates are scheduled but does not establish an exact end date for this model in the captured information. Do not treat that page as confirmation of a specific final patch date.

- A dedicated 2× telephoto adds portrait and closer-framing flexibility.

- No ultrawide rear camera means less flexibility for landscapes and groups.

Verdict: should you buy the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra?
Choose the Razr 50 Ultra if you want a compact foldable whose outer display can handle more than quick glances, and you value a dedicated telephoto for portraits. Its combination of an unusually usable cover screen, polished displays and broadly praised battery life makes it one of the more convincing 2024 flip-phone packages. Stuff’s review similarly called it, in its 2024 assessment, “in many ways 2024’s top flip phone,” while noting the need for Motorola to improve its Android update game.

Look elsewhere if you depend on an ultrawide camera, expect consistent results in challenging light, or plan to keep a phone for a long time and prioritize extended software support. Because the prices above are historical, judge any present-day offer against the device’s local warranty, storage configuration, condition and current alternatives rather than assuming launch pricing still applies.
