Open the HTML schedule in a desktop browser, choose Print, select the browser’s PDF destination (often Save as PDF), and check the preview before saving. If you can edit the page, use print CSS to hide screen-only controls, set page size and orientation, and let the schedule flow naturally across pages. Add page breaks only at useful boundaries, such as between days or class groups.
Save the schedule as a PDF from your browser
- Open the HTML file or webpage in a desktop browser. Wait for the timetable, fonts, and images to finish loading.
- Open the browser’s Print command. In the print dialog, choose its PDF destination rather than a physical printer. The exact label and menu path vary by browser and operating system.
- Review the preview. Choose a paper size and orientation. For a timetable with many columns, landscape is a sensible starting point, but check that the text remains readable.
- If columns are cut off, try smaller margins or a modest scale adjustment. Check the text size after changing scale. If browser-generated headers or footers overlap the schedule or consume useful space, adjust margins or turn those headers and footers off in the dialog.
- Save the PDF, then inspect every page from beginning to end. Check that day headings, class names, and times are visible and that rows are not split awkwardly.
The browser can print to paper or create a PDF, and CSS can give the printed document a different appearance from the screen version. The official MDN printing guide describes print-specific styles and page setup.

Prepare the HTML for a cleaner print layout
If you control the HTML or stylesheet, add rules to an existing stylesheet or link a dedicated stylesheet with media="print". Use @media print for adjustments that should apply only when printing, and @page to set the paper dimensions, orientation, and margins. The example below is a starting point; replace the selectors with those used by your page.

}Remove the .day-section rule if you do not want every section to end on a new page. Ordinary content will paginate as it fills the available pages; an explicit break is most useful where a new page should begin at a meaningful boundary.

Choose page size, orientation, and margins
A wide schedule may fit better in landscape, but the number of columns and chosen paper size determine whether it is still legible. Preview different settings rather than assuming that a particular orientation will work for every timetable. The @page reference explains page dimensions, orientation, and margins. MDN labels @page Baseline 2024 and cautions that support for some parts varies.
Remove screen-only elements
Hide elements that are useful on screen but not on paper, such as navigation and print buttons. Keep information needed to interpret the schedule—especially dates, class names, times, and day labels—in the print layout.

Place page breaks deliberately
For a new page at the start of a day or class-group section, apply break-before: page to that section’s heading or container. To end a section with a page break, break-after: page is another option. Avoid forcing a break after every row: that can waste space and turn a useful timetable into a stack of fragments. The MDN paged-media guide covers page fragmentation and break properties.
For a short row that splits across pages, you can try break-inside: avoid on the row or its containing block, then verify the result. Behavior can vary with the browser and the table layout, so treat it as a test rather than a guarantee.

Fix common print-preview problems
- Rightmost columns are missing: Try landscape orientation, smaller margins, or a modest scale change. Recheck readability after scaling.
- A class row is split between pages: Try
break-inside: avoidon the row or its container and preview again. It may not behave identically across browser table layouts. - There are unexpected blank or extra pages: Remove unnecessary forced breaks and check page dimensions, margins, and existing break rules.
- Headers or footers overlap the timetable: Adjust page margins or disable browser-generated headers and footers in the print dialog. Chrome for Developers documents a dialog control for these elements; its article also discusses Chrome 131 margin-box content, which should not be assumed available in older browsers.
- Colors or backgrounds look different: Check the print preview and the saved PDF. Browser settings and print rendering can affect the result; there is no single dialog setting that can be assumed across browsers.
- The PDF looks different from the screen: Print styles are allowed to change the layout. Preview and save the PDF in the same browser, then inspect the saved pages rather than relying only on the screen view.
Choose PDF or paper output
Save as PDF when you need a file to share or archive; choose a physical printer when you need a handout. Either way, the useful test is whether the schedule is readable at the selected page size, orientation, and scale. The official documentation establishes browser printing and print styling, but exact dialog labels and results vary; the workflow above was not tested against a particular browser, operating system, or schedule.
