If OBS is sending your 24/7 YouTube stream, check the OBS source that supplies its video. For a multi-item VLC Video source, remove unintended duplicate playlist entries and turn off Shuffle Playlist if the items should play in listed order. For a single-file Media Source, check its separate Loop setting. YouTube’s viewer-side Loop control does not change what OBS sends to a live broadcast.
Find the source that controls the stream video
In OBS, select the scene that is actually being sent to YouTube, then identify the source supplying its video. The relevant controls depend on whether that source is a single-file Media Source or a multi-item VLC Video source; they are not interchangeable.

Single video: Media Source
A Media Source represents one media file. Confirm that it points to the intended file, then inspect its Loop setting. Loop repeats that file when it finishes; it does not select or remove items from a playlist.

Multiple videos: VLC Video
A VLC Video source can use a playlist. Review every row and remove any filename, URL, or alternate copy that should not appear again. OBS documents editable playlists, but does not document automatic duplicate detection, so the list must be checked manually.

Set playlist order and repeat behavior
- In the active OBS scene, select the VLC Video source that feeds the stream.
- Inspect the full playlist for repeated entries and remove those that should play only once.
- Turn Shuffle Playlist off if you want items to play in their displayed order. Shuffle changes ordering; it is not a duplicate-removal feature.
- Set Loop Playlist according to whether the entire list should restart after its last item. This restarts the playlist; it does not prevent repeated entries within it.
- Check the actual outgoing OBS program output after making changes, before relying on it for continuous operation.
OBS describes VLC Video as supporting a playlist of items, unlike Media Source, which represents one media item: OBS media sources documentation.
Do not confuse a live playlist with YouTube repeat controls
YouTube’s Loop control is for a person watching a video or playlist in the YouTube player. It does not configure the queue OBS uses to compose an outgoing live broadcast. YouTube Help explains viewer repeat playback here: Loop videos or playlists on YouTube.

The Google IFrame Player API has a separate loop parameter for embedded playback. To loop a single embedded video, its documentation requires loop=1 together with the same video ID in the playlist parameter. Those settings apply to an embedded player, not an OBS VLC playlist: YouTube embedded player parameters.

If the VLC Video source is missing
OBS says VLC must be installed for the VLC Video source to appear. Match the VLC architecture to OBS: 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC. See the OBS media sources documentation.

Troubleshoot repeated or unexpected playback
- The same clip appears twice in sequence: check the VLC playlist for duplicate filenames, URLs, or alternate copies. Remove the unintended row; OBS does not document automatic duplicate detection.
- Items play in an unexpected order: check whether Shuffle Playlist is on. Turn it off when list order matters.
- The whole list starts over: inspect Loop Playlist. It is responsible for restarting the playlist after it is exhausted.
- A single file keeps repeating: inspect the Media Source’s Loop setting and confirm the source points to the intended file.
- The fix does not affect the broadcast: verify you changed the source in the scene actually being streamed, then inspect the outgoing OBS program output.
- VLC Video is unavailable: install VLC and ensure its architecture matches OBS.
The documented controls explain playlist and loop behavior, but do not establish a guaranteed no-repeat algorithm or 24/7 uptime. Test the outgoing program before leaving a stream unattended.
