For a 24/7 stream, trusted moderators are essential because filters are imperfect and held messages need a person to review them.
Choose the right control for the problem
Super Chats appear in live chat, so the practical response is to moderate the chat around them. YouTube provides several controls, but they work in different ways and add different levels of friction for legitimate viewers.

YouTube does not publish comparative effectiveness rates for these controls, so there is no reliable percentage-based ranking. A sensible escalation is to start with targeted filtering, add posting limits, and restrict participation only if the spam persists.
Set blocked words and review holds
In YouTube Studio, open the live chat moderation settings for your channel. Add recurring spam phrases to blocked words, then enable the option to hold potentially inappropriate live chat messages for review. Start with Basic moderation; consider Strict if you want a broader range of messages held.

Review held messages rather than assuming they are all spam. YouTube warns, “No system is perfect.” Messages left without action remain hidden, so this control can prevent flagged content from appearing publicly, but it can also delay legitimate chat.
Turn on slow mode
Enable slow mode in the live chat settings and choose a posting interval that reduces rapid repeats without making ordinary conversation impractical. Slow mode limits how frequently each user can comment. The channel owner, moderators, and channel members are exempt from its rate limit.

Slow mode can be combined with subscribers-only chat. If you use it, tell viewers why chat is moving more slowly so the restriction is not mistaken for a stream fault.

If filtering and slow mode are not enough, choose subscribers-only live chat and, if appropriate, set a subscription-duration threshold. Members-only chat is another option. Subscribers-only and members-only modes cannot be enabled at the same time, though subscribers-only mode can be combined with slow mode.

Both options narrow participation and can exclude genuine viewers who do not meet the chosen eligibility conditions. Use them as access controls, not as a guarantee that spam will stop.
Cover a continuous stream with trusted moderators
A 24/7 stream may attract chat activity when you are not available to watch it. Assign trusted moderators who can review held messages and respond to spam while the stream is live. YouTube documents moderator actions including removing messages, timing users out, and hiding users from the channel. Available timeout choices range from 10 seconds to 24 hours.

Managing moderators can change certain live chat settings, but they do not have access to Live Control Room or YouTube Studio. Give moderators clear guidance on which terms to remove, when to use a timeout, and when to hide a user. Keep the account owner responsible for channel-level configuration.
Reassess as chat conditions change
Check the settings and held-message queue when spam patterns change or legitimate viewers report trouble participating. Update blocked words when a phrase is no longer useful, and revisit whether slow mode or access restrictions remain proportionate. YouTube does not prescribe a review schedule or promise a particular reduction in spam, so base adjustments on what moderators are seeing.
