You cannot reliably prevent the structural crease that forms where a foldable screen bends. Careful handling can help avoid additional damage, but no cited guidance establishes a way to keep a foldable iPhone screen crease-free. The available Apple cleaning guidance is general, not foldable-specific; Samsung’s foldable care instructions apply only to the Samsung models they name.
Why foldable screens develop a crease
A fold line is associated with the part of a flexible display that bends. Samsung describes the crease on the Galaxy Z Fold5 as a normal characteristic of its flexible Ultra Thin Glass design, rather than a defect. That is Samsung’s statement about that model, not a diagnosis or warranty ruling for an iPhone.

Display construction can affect how visible a crease is. In a July 14, 2026 announcement, Samsung Display said its Flex Titanium structure is designed to reduce crease visibility. It described a titanium-alloy support film beneath the OLED panel and a titanium plate supporting the display module; its stated figure of 20 times greater mechanical stiffness compares the alloy film with polymer film. That figure is not a measurement of crease-depth reduction, device lifespan, or consumer-visible performance, and the announcement does not establish that the technology applies to an Apple product. How to handle a foldable screen carefully
Samsung’s 2024 English EU manual for the Galaxy Z Fold6 gives the following precautions for that model. They are useful examples of foldable care, but should not be treated as Apple instructions or as universal rules for every device.

- Do not apply excessive pressure to the area where the screen folds.
- Do not press the screen or under-display camera with a hard or sharp object.
- Do not push the display apart to unfold the phone; use the device’s intended opening motion.
- Before folding the phone, check that no card, coin, key, S Pen, or other object is between the screens.
- Fold the device before placing it in a bag or storing it.
- Do not remove the fitted film or apply films or stickers that Samsung has not approved for that model.
These habits can reduce avoidable pressure, scratches, or damage. They cannot guarantee that a crease will not form. Galaxy Z Fold6 User Manual (SM-F956B, EU English)
Should you remove or replace the inner screen protector?
For Samsung foldables covered by its U.S. support guidance, the pre-installed main-screen protector is designed to withstand folding and unfolding and to protect against scratches and debris. Samsung does not recommend removing it yourself. If it needs replacement, Samsung directs users to an authorized service center; a replacement fee may apply in some cases. The page says available covers vary by model. Its stated protector benefits are scratch and debris protection, not crease prevention. Samsung: Care for your Samsung foldable phone

Samsung advises Galaxy Z Fold5 owners to contact support if the crease becomes significantly deeper or uneven, or if the device develops functional symptoms. That guidance can help illustrate the difference between a visible fold line and a possible problem, but it is not an iPhone warranty standard. For another device, contact its manufacturer or an authorized service provider if the fold changes noticeably or the display stops working normally. Samsung Gulf: Is Galaxy Z Fold5 crease a defect?
